As the sun rises on Saturday morning, all will be quiet and still in the village. Not a single soul stirs as the sun and the moon linger in the sky, visible should anyone look.

A shimmer of stars spark through the air as a swirl of darkness lifts from the village. Everything has returned to as it once was, all 16 houses in-tact and all buildings precisely as they were before. Beams of light follow, soaring through the air and delivering every single participant back to this plane of existence.

As participants gather their wits and take in their surroundings, they'll find that a celebratory banquet has been prepared for them not unlike the one that originally greeted them. Decorations hang from the rafters and windows as lively music plays and can be heard in every part of the village. Some may even be able to trace the source to a gathering of musical instruments, and even...a turntable? Strange. All manner of fruits and vegetables appear to be perfect for harvest, and a variety of freshly cooked dishes from across many worlds can be found on display at the tables in the center. If you don't see your favorite dish? All of the ingredients can be found, along with amenities to make it yourself.

Surrounding the center of the village, several gateways open one by one, a soft gold glow emitting from them. No dangers linger in these parts, but adventure awaits those who wish to find it. Likewise, silver gateways open alongside these and serve as portals that allow participants to return to their homeworlds whenever they're ready.

Your Oracle Bells are in working condition, all messages saved from your time here and featuring a new network feature. Even as you leave this world, you're only 140 characters away from the friends you've come to cherish. Look around at those who join you today. Look hard enough, and you may even find some familiar faces you haven't seen for a very, very long time.

Though your time in this village draws to a close, the universe has settled and found a path to follow. You will always have a place here should you wish to return, and even when you depart for your next destination, your strength and power will follow you.

Your gratitude will be remembered, participants. Congratulations.

Happy endgame, friends! Thank you guys for a fun nine weeks! Here's a breakdown of what's happening in this post.

-All participants have been revived.
-All locations from the game have been opened, including the locations of the CYOAs.
-All characters' homeworlds can be visited.
-Castmates will be able to come through these world portals and play with the game's cast! So feel free to tag each other, etc.
-The Oracle Bells now have a universal network! We have a post over in the free-for-all meme comm so please just spam each other to your heart's content.
-All elemental powers will remain with characters when they leave! This includes their special skills.
-And yes, all injuries are healed and all characters will remember their time here.

What's... Boston? Did they rename another city?

[...that's a valid question even for someone who isn't a decades-old sword, so he keeps his laughter to a minimal.]

It's not in Japan. It's a city in America...my friends and I moved there to study for a year. It's a lot bigger and busier than this place.

America...

[ it sounds vaguely familiar. ]

I think that was one of the places Masamune wanted to visit. Is it easier to visit other countries now?

[ kara can't say he isn't curious on his former master's behalf. ]

Yeah. There aren't portals like these or anything like that, but flights are pretty quick, or there're boats for longer cruises. The flight from home to Boston was only thirteen hours or something like that. And we travel to other countries for vacation all the time, and have houses in other countries for when we visit.

[Perhaps he should say it's easier to visit when you have an insane amount of privilege but that's just how it is for him.]

[ kara only has the vaguest idea of what he means by a flight - he's picturing a blimp like the one in the circus gateway. it doesn't seem very efficient? but for only 13 hours, it must be. ]

That fast...

[ it's hard to imagine it not taking weeks? masamune would be losing his mind with excitement. ]

It sounds like Japan has come a long way since I was last used.

It's still improving every day. [There's a half-grin. Compared to what Kara's used to, he can only imagine how jarring the situation would be.] We have trains and planes and ships for travel, not to mention cars. Plus mass-production on wares that ship all over the world, and business deals with other countries. That's how our mom's company is run. She has a lot of good contacts in other continents.

We can visit whenever you two come back. [Because hopping on a plane without warning is very easy.]

[ kara legitimately doesn’t know what trains, planes or cars even are, and he has a feeling ships are different in kaoru’s time than his own, too. but he doesn’t particularly want to ask, so he’ll just settle for an uncertain nod. ]

I’m sure she’ll want to.

[ will kara? who knows, but he’s apparently accepted that he’s going anyway. ]

You’ll probably have to show us around. It sounds like everything’s changed from what I’m used to.

[ which makes sense, but also, what the fuck. ]

I don't mind being a tour guide in this instance. [He actually sounds excited about it.] I'd rather the two of you not get lost anyway but it's worth seeing everything. The world's a lot bigger than I ever realized...it's exciting to see it all.

I've never even been outside of Japan before this.

[ so honestly, despite being an immortal? seeing the whole world sounds a little overwhelming, now that it's confirmed everything is completely different from what he'd once known. ]

I wouldn't even know where to start... And Lili's never been to our world at all.

[ they're gonna lose kaoru at some point and get hopelessly lost aren't they ]

[Someone save both of them because Kaoru is absolutely going to lose them while he thinks everything's fine. But he doesn't seem to be worried about that now, shaking his head almost lazily.]

I'll teach you both how to read the maps we have and it'll be fine. You both have decent senses of direction...it's just about starting where your interest lies. And sometimes it's nice just to go somewhere on a whim.

[He does this a lot, it's fine. Ganba, Kara.]

[ what even are kara's interests, beyond fighting and preserving the timeline? he seems to be putting a lot of thought into this for a few moments, before asking: ]

[ he has like... no knowledge of where to start outside of japan, so he might as well start with what he does know - and that's masamaune. he wants to see what's become of his master's beloved home. ]

[Fine by him. He doesn't think anything of this question, tilting his head in thought for a fleeting moment.]

Yeah. It's north of home, but it's still there and thriving. If the timing's right, we could visit for Tanabata. Sendai has the largest festival in the nation. [Plus while Kaoru's not a romantic like Tamaki is, he can appreciate something like that.]

actually gets a small, almost nostalgic smile out of him. congrats, kaoru! ]

I told Lili we'd go to Tanabata sometime after this ended, if we could. I haven't seen it for centuries, though.

[ how much has it changed, he wonders? there must be a lot, now that it's apparently the largest festival in the country. ]

...Masamune would be proud to hear our home has grown so much.

[Yessss success. He's trying not to look too pleased, but...well, at the end of the day Kaoru is a people-pleaser when he's left to his own devices.]

It'll be perfect. She'll really like that, and even if the celebration's different than what you remember I think it's always something familiar. Right? [Tradition. Culture. Some things withstand the test of time.] ...and anyway, when I see you again and we're in Sendai I'd like to hear more about what you remember, too. Comparison and all that.

[He's curious. It's not every day you have a living sword to tell you about history.]

Yeah. It's still Sendai.

[ and that's enough for kara, as long as sendai as a whole hasn't forgotten who brought it to prosperity. if - when - he goes, he'll definitely have to see if aoba castle is still standing, too.

he hasn't quite lost the smile as he nods. ]

[ he. really likes talking about his time with masamune. ]

And if I said I want to know everything? [It's actually an earnest answer. In addition to being a people-pleaser on his own, he's curious and wants to know as much as possible when it comes to the people he lets into his bubble.] Hikaru and I aren't exactly history buffs but it comes up in literature all the time. And it's important to you, isn't it?

[There's a self-assured nod.] We'll make a whole day of it when you're both ready.

[ that seems to startle the smile from his face - few people are interested enough in kara to ask about his history when there are nicer swords around who are just as familiar with the date clan. most get better answers from mitsutada, so they ask him instead, and now that kaoru has access to his citadel, he could easily do the same. maybe kara was expecting him to do just that. ]

...Ask, and I'll tell you.

[ kara won't make this offer to just anyone so i hope kaoru appreciates it. all the same- ]

Mitsutada may know some things I don't. You can talk to him, too.

[There's a tilt of his head, and maybe he's playing ignorant but he shrugs shortly after.]

Which one's Mitsutada again? [He likely knows, but his point is that he'd rather just ask Kara instead.] I think there's something more interesting about learning from someone I actually...[...he doesn't exactly finish the sentence, but the implication is there. "Someone that I'd consider an ally. Or a friend. Or whatever."] If I have any further questions I suppose I could ask him later.

not going to acknowledge the implication that they're friends? that's one step too far for him just yet. ]

You can come to our citadel, if you want to talk to him sometime.

[ not "us," but. kaoru will have to read between the lines. ]

[Please don't acknowledge it, that would mean Kaoru would have to openly acknowledge it and he's not ready for that either. There's an almost-sage nod of understanding though.]

I'll consider it. Depending on how things are in Boston and whatever Milord decides to drag us into, I'm sure there will be time. It's just a matter of explaining things to Hikaru after that.

[ maybe some day they'll be able to spit it out? until then kara's just gonna shrug. ]

[ he still has to figure out how to explain lili lmao ]

[There's a light smile. Glad they both have similar issues and zero way of knowing how to tackle them, good job guys.]

You do realize that half of my job is answering questions, right? [Being a host is exhausting and also this is somehow safer to say than admitting "I pretend I'm weak and fragile for a brocon relationship our clients pay for."] I won't mind if you guys won't.

[ he'll just be blunt here because he has no fucking clue what kaoru actually does besides dress people up and set up dates. maybe that's it. that doesn't sound like an actual job, but maybe it's a thing in modern japan? ]

Perhaps that's for the best. [He's 90% sure Kara would hate his job if he ever described it.] I don't think Host Clubs existed in your time period anyway. It's one of the changes we can cover with the questions in any case. Tamaki-senpai has us learn about history for some of our special events, so that shouldn't be complicated at all.

[ do you like. serve tea to people? like a tea ceremony? because that sounds boring. kara dismisses it with a shake of his head because he has no idea he's already experienced discount host club haha. ]

[ but most swords like to talk about that stuff at length so good luck getting them to shut up once they get started ]
