Week Zero

On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

He's a new friend I met here.

I'd like to think so... but it's a little hard. I wish I could do more to assure him of things, mostly.

[ First step was to get rid of the nailbat, but he couldn't bring himself to do that, not entirely. ]

You two get along?

I mean, I'm here because nothing was stopping me. This mountain was here, so why not to climb it.

[And she has nothing better to do. She sure likes the places outside the village more than the village itself. Still, it was a rather human feeling, many would say]

And here I thought most of you would prefer to stick to the village. I don't like that place, but I thought you humans would figure it's better than being out there.

[She always had the impression humans preferred to stay indoors or in their towns. She doesn't interact much with them in friendly settings, yeah]

[leaberator]

[ could he, theoretically, move out of the way if he was paying attention? sure. does he? absolutely not, he doesn't expect the stick inquisition, and he absolutely deserves it.

unfortunately he wears boots so it doesn't hurt that much, but he would deserve it if it did :/ ]

Ow. [ a bit deadpan, like he didn't jump back after being hit ] Attacking people like that is rude, you know.

[stillstands]

Then we go higher, if we can.

[ There's a pause, as she stops and leans out a little to try and squint into the distance. They're still kinda low, but things do look a little different from here? Maybe she's just imagining it, but it feels that way. ]

Although I guess we don't know if this is active or not? [ She's. She's looking back at the rock now, suspiciously. No exploding? ]

And how did you meet Bob-chan?

[stillstands]

[ Oh. That's? That's good to know. ]

It's okay. It was more of a surprise?

[ She stays crouched down for a moment, and then stands up slowly, brushing off her skirt as she straightens up fully. ]

That's probably the more useful thing to learn. If I can't be caught, it'd be difficult to be stuck in a directly dangerous situation.

[leaberator]

[ ... huh. that's almost relatable. maybe there's something with moons. ]

I'm guessing you guys stopped that?

Yeah.

[ there's probably some small burns on his clothes, but he hasn't paid them much attention. ]

It's better here.

[leaberator]

What's a kaiju?

I found him shortly after we all arrived! He was just out, wandering around on his own... poor child...

[ bob-chan was a chicken minding his own business when he got kidnapped ]

[stillstands]

[ it was deserved. she does look... unnerved, maybe a little shaken, like he just leaned over and slammed go on most of her fight or flight instincts at the same time.

once she sees who it is though, she looks a little more settled again. ]

So is sneaking up on people.

[ and then just angery. ]

What is he like?

We have music. [ and after a second he remembers: ] And karaoke.

[ not that he took part but the tantous sure have fun. is that called a recording? he just thought it was plain old ordinary music. ]

Yes. It would be difficult to teach you enough combat skill to assure your safety in an actual fight, as long as you lack experience. Better to run away, and to only have to use a weapon as a last resort.

[nonbelligerent]

I'd like to think we do, though he did spend the entirety of the conversation hiding under his blanket.

[preowned]

He's very intelligent for a chicken! He's only bitten me...

[ he trails off

[ he was counting ]

Well, stop it. It's not like that person is here. And watching you do that creeps me out.

It's the only thing that makes sense! There's probably a whole school of them in there, swimming around in their hooded robes!
