On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[ could he, theoretically, move out of the way if he was paying attention? sure. does he? absolutely not, he doesn't expect the stick inquisition, and he absolutely deserves it.

unfortunately he wears boots so it doesn't hurt that much, but he would deserve it if it did :/ ]

[ it was deserved. she does look... unnerved, maybe a little shaken, like he just leaned over and slammed go on most of her fight or flight instincts at the same time.

once she sees who it is though, she looks a little more settled again. ]

So is sneaking up on people.

[ and then just angery. ]

Hey, I wouldn't have been sneakin' up on ya if you weren't so concentrated on what you were doing.

[ that's ?? not??? an excuse??? he is unrepentant ]

Are you always this jumpy?

[stillstands]

That’s even more reason not to sneak up on someone, you know.

[ And then she’s frowning back at whatever it was she was drawing in the sand. And not answering any questions at this time, apparently.

Hm. ]

[leaberator]

[ ... he steps back in closer to peer at it again like an asshole ]

You never answered my question. What's got you so preoccupied right now?

[stillstands]

[ She’s silent for a moment, before: ]

I was planning a sandcastle.

[ Looking at it a little closer reveals that... yeah. She’s been scratching a floorplan for a proper Castle Sandcastle into the sand. There’s actually space for turrets. And a moat. ]

[leaberator]

[ oh... my god? he is struggling to not look too amused because she looks a little flustered about it but. hilarious? ]

Huh. That's one well protected sandcastle. You really thought of everything. [ he looks mock critically at it ] You gonna put any alligators in that moat?

[ he sounds too mild it probably comes off as mocking ]

[stillstands]

It's what you need. If you want to keep people out and know what's out there, but this only really covers the basics.

[ She taps the stick against the moat, and then drags it around to make a somewhat alligator shaped blob in the middle of it. ]

Maybe some sharks too.

[leaberator]

If you want sharks, I think it's crocodiles that can live in saltwater.

[ first of all: why does he know that, second of all: he's the one who suggested alligators in the first place??? ]

What else would you need to cover more than the basics?

[stillstands]

You have weapons, don't you? Like cannons. To stop things attacking before they get close enough to put you at risk. And usually you have guards and armies in castles, but that'd be pushing it a bit.

[ Okay miki. ]

As long as there's something in the moat it'd help dissuade attackers, right?

[leaberator]

Yeah, guards and armies in the castle might be pushing it a bit for your work medium.

[ teeny tiny sand sculptures of an army ... hilarious ]

Yeah, but in that case, you might as well make the moat out of lava. Then it'd really dissuade attackers.

[ WHAT KINDA SANDCASTLE HAS A LAVA MOAT ]

Oh. That wouldn’t be a bad idea actually, for a real castle. Especially if you wanted to remain in the safety of the castle. Visiting socially would be tricky, and you couldn’t make the drawbridge out of wood otherwise it’d burn down.

...

But it’d definitely be a good deterrent.

[leaberator]

Stone drawbridges are cooler anyway.

[ are they. are they tho. also axel is from a videogame lava isn't hot unless you step on it? clearly? ]

So who're you trying to protect this castle from?

[stillstands]

Stone?

Hm. Yeah, that might work? Depending on the kind of stone.

[ Isn’t that a loaded question? ]

I don’t know. Whatever’s going to be a threat, I guess. [ Which, honestly, could be literally anything. Maybe even the crocodiles in moat. ]

[leaberator]

Just planning for all eventualities, huh? That's smart. You never know what you might end up defending yourself from.

[ they are talking about a sandcastle. ]

[stillstands]

Yeah. Sometimes it's things you only thought happened in movies or books.

[ it is indeed literally a sandcastle. ]

... But this is just the floor plan. I still need to actually build it.

[leaberator]

[ hmmm. ]

You gonna do it by the beach?

[ where the fuck ELSE do you even make a sandcastle, dumbass ]

[stillstands]

That's usually where you build them, yeah. The clue's in the name.

You coulda done it on a riverbank.
