It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.

The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with a glass box perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Tsurumaru's coffin is open, and his body will be available for examination.

Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. Before Lune gets a chance to speak, Sol draws everyone's attention.

"Yesterday…something really bad happened. The instability of the core has manifested into something bigger than we thought, and it's hidden among us. Today, it'll be your job to find it, and determine what to do with it."

They gesture to the open space between them and the participants then.

"Lune and I will help you as much as we can. But the final decision is yours and yours alone."

With that said, they settle back in their seat.

"Oh. And you have nine hours…let's get going."

Incidentally, anyone who did not dance with their partner during Wednesday's party will soon find that they are now sharing a new article of clothing. Congratulations.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

BODY INVESTGATION

[The body of Tsurumaru rests in a glass coffin, the lid now removed. Please be specific about what your character is doing when they examine the body! "Taking a look," for example, will only yield what can be seen at first glance.]

[Val will approach the body and take a once over. What's immediately apparent about it?]

[cyclists]

[Well. The most immediate part is that the body is ripped apart so there's that.]

[omegathree]

[How many bits are there? Arms and legs? Torso? Totally ripped to shreds? What are the rips like?]

[His torso is pretty much torn open with claw and teeth marks. His right arm appears to be mostly detached but still hanging on, and his legs are actually mostly okay. His face is also pretty torn up.]

[Alright, let's start at the top. He's going to look at the face specifically. Was it also torn open with claw and teeth marks? Something similar?]

[Yes, it was torn open like what you'd expect from a large beast with claws and teeth.]

[Anything on the scalp? He's going to run his fingers along it to see if there are any injuries he can't see.]

[No. It's really just that Tsurumaru was mauled by an animal, so no cranial injuries or anything like that.]

[he'll leave the examination to val, but one quick thing he wants to check first: is tsurumaru's sword with him?]

[Nope! :) And while Shess is looking, he may also notice Tsurumaru's necklace is missing.]

[well, that's unfortunate.

actually, shess is going to call out for someone right now.]

Ookurikara. His necklace is missing.

I know. He hasn't had it since the festival.

[well good to know someone didn't steal his other stuff on top of his sword]

So it's likely nothing, then. Do you know where it went?

No. He doesn't usually take it off.

[ it's probably nothing... it could just be in the house he's been staying at, for all kara knows. somehow it doesn't occur to him that tsuru might've given it away. ]

Perhaps he gave it to someone else, then.

[ ...oh.

well, since he didn't give it ookurikara... tsuru gets along much better with other people than he does, but kara only knows of a few that he likes. one is lili, but lili didn't have it. the only other person he can think of is...

his eyes settle on lune. without another word, he's going to leave shess so he can ask, now that they have their investigation team. ]

[okay now that val is done—

anything unusual about tsuru's clothes (besides the missing necklace)? any fur on them, or anything else.]

[There's, like, a tiny bit of fur intermingled with the blood on his clothes. And also animal spit. So that's gross. Otherwise they're torn to shreds due to aforementioned mauling.]

[it's fine, sura don't give a shit about this kind of thing

and no hair or anything that could suggest human involvement?]

[No hair, no human claw marks, nada.]

[ So here he is. He knows animal marks and weapon wounds. If he checks the torso and the wounds, can he see anything like tool marks or knife marks that could be there?

[Nope. There are zero wounds that look like they could come from a weapon.]

[There are no distinctive scents to this dead sword unfortunately.]
