WEEK ZERO TRIAL
Week Zero: Trial
31 in Competition
31 in Competition
It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.
The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with a glass box perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Tsurumaru's coffin is open, and his body will be available for examination.
Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. Before Lune gets a chance to speak, Sol draws everyone's attention.
"Yesterday…something really bad happened. The instability of the core has manifested into something bigger than we thought, and it's hidden among us. Today, it'll be your job to find it, and determine what to do with it."
They gesture to the open space between them and the participants then.
"Lune and I will help you as much as we can. But the final decision is yours and yours alone."
With that said, they settle back in their seat.
"Oh. And you have nine hours…let's get going."
Incidentally, anyone who did not dance with their partner during Wednesday's party will soon find that they are now sharing a new article of clothing. Congratulations.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!
We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.
As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.
Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord! Dana and Ty will be in the chat and available for all questions. Thank you, and have fun!

It was dying probably.
He'll let Swift inspect the tree; his attention is on Kara and the sword. It had been important, right? Looks like Kara is struggling just a little. How interesting.] Ah, that's a shame. He said he was one with it. It was the first thing he looked for in the house. And he didn't even have a chance to show me how he used it...
[Ah well.]
Want me to carry them back...? ♠
no subject
anyway the branch will look like it was snapped from pressure - the place where it's broken appears to have been from a force exerted from... above? it might've been used as a step to get a little bit higher?
they might want to hurry.
there's another roar - this time sounding much closer.]
no subject
the tree branch is abandoned]
no subject
No.
[ ookurikara will carry the pieces himself, and if hisoka so much as tries to touch them, he will be getting stabbed, thanks. he's careful to pick up the pieces, and straightens with them in hand. now that they've found what's left of tsurumaru, he is... not sure if he wants to continue on this path.
not. that it matters, since the horse is already off. ookurikara can't exactly fight a bear while holding tsurumaru's shards, but. he can still hold his sword, and it's the only light they have.
guess he's following the horse. slower than before, though; he's no longer eager to be on this little adventure. ]
no subject
Hisoka lets the horse make a mad-dash for the noise, Magnus-style. For a moment or two, he watches Kara with a wolfish smile until Kara goes after Swift.
He turns to face the tree. He's acrobatic enough to get in it, but, hm. Somehow, after lifting his arms midsection high, he goes from ground to up in the tree, almost like he springboarded, and then he's swallowed by the dimness of it.
Gonna see what's up in the tree before riding the horse.]
no subject
but swift wind and ookurikara are free to go in the direction of the roar. they'll find - well, it's a bear. of course it's a bear. the bear appears to still have blood on its muzzle, but also atop its nose are a pair of.... goggles? however you would describe that ever so fashionable piece of eyewear.
it's agitated, and it doesn't seem to uh.
know where it's going.
for hisoka, he'll find that there's a piece of fabric snagged against one of the higher branches.]
no subject
swift wind slows as the bear comes into view, and narrows his eyes, watching the bear's progress (or lack thereof) for a moment or two before speaking to ookurikara in a low voice.]
Stay back. If it charges, I'll handle it.
no subject
either way, kara is going to keep his distance from it and let swift wind handle the bear. he's not going to risk dropping tsurumaru. ]
no subject
But after that, he'll pocket it and disappear into the trees.
Only to pop back up with Swift and Kara, only... ??? He slides out of the thick canopy above upside-down, hidden from the knees to the feet.] So that's what was making all the fuss. ♣ [He'll just
suddenly fall from his hang in the canopy, doing one or two flips before landing right on Swift's back. He's, uh, not exactly light, but he's graceful, so it makes the landing a little better.]
Hm. A bumbling bear. It's holding us up... Shall we?
[You know. Kill it.]
no subject
the bear, meanwhile, is lumbering about. sure it's looking pretty bad considering that its paws and nose are covered in blood, but it also looks like its currently being impeded from seeing much because of the goggles. it bumbles around around, making growling noises in its agitation.
are you still gonna fight it.
also lune is here.
wandering on over from an entirely different direction for some reason.
so any time y'all wanna head back,,]
no subject
[but as long as the bear doesn't, like, try to kill them, swift wind is cool with heading back.]
no subject
he might be running out of juice for their would-be torch soon anyway. ]
no subject
[Lightly, he steps down off Swift and settles ready, knees bent.] You should stay with him. [Being Kara.] He's looked as if he might cry this whole time.
♥
[And then he takes off for the bear. He took his time the whole way, but? he's fucking fast? At the bear, he skids to an even lower crouch and does a sideways flip up and over it, snagging the glasses. Better run now maybe.
So like he does that.]
no subject
but once the bear is able to actually see, there's an angry sounding snort. and then it'll seem to realize that once again it's not alone in the comfort of this forest? there's a more ferocious growl, followed by a roar.
bear chase on the way out is fine.
that said, your investigation for this area is clear!]
no subject
hop on his back lune you walk real slow]
