WEEK ZERO TRIAL
Week Zero: Trial
31 in Competition
31 in Competition
It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.
The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with a glass box perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Tsurumaru's coffin is open, and his body will be available for examination.
Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. Before Lune gets a chance to speak, Sol draws everyone's attention.
"Yesterday…something really bad happened. The instability of the core has manifested into something bigger than we thought, and it's hidden among us. Today, it'll be your job to find it, and determine what to do with it."
They gesture to the open space between them and the participants then.
"Lune and I will help you as much as we can. But the final decision is yours and yours alone."
With that said, they settle back in their seat.
"Oh. And you have nine hours…let's get going."
Incidentally, anyone who did not dance with their partner during Wednesday's party will soon find that they are now sharing a new article of clothing. Congratulations.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!
We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.
As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.
Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord! Dana and Ty will be in the chat and available for all questions. Thank you, and have fun!

[Mary, finally seeming to have given up on drawing, bounds over. Once she reaches the throne, she looks back at something else she heard in a conversation, distracted, before she seems to remember that she was actually, uh, addressing someone, and turns back again.]
How are you feeling? Did you get yelled at? I'm sorry!
no subject
Mary. Hi. ["How are you feeling?" That's going to be promptly ignored."] It's okay. I think I'd yell at me, too, if I couldn't get the answers I wanted. [Sort of a musing thought.] Everything okay?
[This is a lot for a small child.]
no subject
[So she doesn't like it! Nobody yell!]
Um, I don't know. I'm okay, I think...do we have to be here for much, much longer? I've been drawing pictures, but I don't want to do that anymore.
[She rocks back on her heels.]
Everyone is saying that Tsurumaru isn't going to be okay...does that mean we'll never see him again? Not ever? What do you think?
no subject
We have to be here until you guys find out where the darkness is now. We still have a couple of hours. [They're about to ask what she'd like to do instead, but then that happens and they're stunned into silence.]
...do you know what death means, Mary? [Like. Just curious.]
no subject
[She's trying...]
When I make friends, I want to see them all the time, always, so I don't want them to go anywhere. But I guess even if he's here, if he's not here on the inside, it doesn't count.
no subject
Sometimes we have to be apart from our friends even if we want to see them every day. And sometimes even when you're with your friends, things are complicated. But friends...even if you're not always together, your heart carries them with you. [Sol is not explaining this well.]
Just because people aren't here anymore doesn't mean they really go away, because they're on the inside just like you said. You have your memories of Tsuru, don't you? Those are special because they're just for you. So...even if a friend dies, they're still there. You just have to wait to see them again, so you can be together. Even when friends leave us? I don't think they want us to be sad.
[...] Does that make sense?
no subject
[It was a lot to take in. It does kind of seem like Mary lost track of it all about halfway through, and she fidgets, unfocused.]
We can be together and friends don't make friends sad!
no subject
Sometimes friends make their friends sad. But that doesn't mean they aren't still friends. It's just like how sometimes friends fight. If you listen to your friends and are honest with them...they'll forgive you even if you make them sad.
[Hm.] Tsuru's not here anymore, but you're still with him and he's still with you.
no subject
[She had no idea! Mary gasps, excited.]
Always, always, no matter what?
