WEEK ZERO TRIAL
Week Zero: Trial
31 in Competition
31 in Competition
It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.
The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with a glass box perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Tsurumaru's coffin is open, and his body will be available for examination.
Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. Before Lune gets a chance to speak, Sol draws everyone's attention.
"Yesterday…something really bad happened. The instability of the core has manifested into something bigger than we thought, and it's hidden among us. Today, it'll be your job to find it, and determine what to do with it."
They gesture to the open space between them and the participants then.
"Lune and I will help you as much as we can. But the final decision is yours and yours alone."
With that said, they settle back in their seat.
"Oh. And you have nine hours…let's get going."
Incidentally, anyone who did not dance with their partner during Wednesday's party will soon find that they are now sharing a new article of clothing. Congratulations.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first trial!
We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.
As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.
Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord! Dana and Ty will be in the chat and available for all questions. Thank you, and have fun!

RESULTS;
Another chime of the bell resounds at the end of trial.
Lune and Sol will look at each other briefly, then to the rest of the people gathered. Suddenly, their body language shifts as they're brought to attention and face the scroll that was unfurled over Tsurumaru's coffin. The words announcing his death are overtaken with black, as if ink has suddenly dripped over the entire surface of the scroll.
The blackness suddenly recedes, revealing the following words.
Mary was corrupted.
The Corrupted will be taken to be purified. Deliver her spirit by tomorrow, when the sun is highest in the sky, by separating it from her body on this plane.
The Corrupted must be removed from this place to be saved, else the Core grow more restless and more will be overtaken by darkness.
Participants who placed votes for themselves, the guides, or failed to write a name in protest be warned: you were not invited here to be sacrificed, but failure to participate in weeks to come will be answered with removal.
You are moving forward.
The message will remain even as a dark aura begins to emanate from Mary....
Following the Corrupted's chance to speak, they will be led to a new house that is created for their containment, identical to the houses that the rest of the participants reside in, encased in a faint light that will intervene in the chance they try to harm anyone else.

She screams, scrambling out of her seat, tripping and falling, hard. She crawls, struggling, trying to get away, but from what, she doesn't know. It's hopeless, isn't it? Everyone decided this.]
But I didn't do anything, I didn't, I swear--don't do this, don't do this to me! I don't want to burn all up again, I, I'm sorry! It wasn't me! I've been good!
[It's just before she reaches the door that she sways, stopping, a blank, almost trance-like expression covers her face, and darkness bleeds from her like it's alive.]

[She turns back around, slowly, her eyes hollow.]
But that wasn't ever going to save her, was it? Tooooo baaaaad...it would have been fun to play more games.

it'd be adding insult to injury. ]
... Mary.

[She rolls up her sleeve, revealing a home-made bandage from red fabric.]
I'll bleed all over the floor.

Using a child to do your dirty work? Indefensible. I have nothing to say to you here.
I'll see to it that her spirit is sent onwards and purified peacefully.

[Mary claps her hands.]
And when you win, I won't be moving anymore! Will you watch me? Will you watch my eyes? Oh, you'll have my body forever as a trophy, it won't go anywhere!

What a waste.
[The lifted hand drops back down.] She could have played a good game. You made her sloppy. And now I have to deal with the trouble you've caused. Did you have fun?
I should really be the one to break you. But... you're not even worth my time.

he doesn't know what he was expecting. some sort of cornered entity, defensive, lashing out. but this darkness is none of those things, instead taunting and goading in equal measure.
it's not worried at all. ]

That’s not purification that’s just murder! How does that make any of this any better?? If you’re that concerned about the “Corruption” then should have a way of getting it out of a person without just killing and justifying it as a necessary action!
