Week One
30 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

“Last night, Lune and I were finally able to get some answers. Or, at least, something we can do to help. The core’s still experiencing fluctuations and some instability, but we’ve figured out a place some of it might be coming from.”

They stop, excitedly holding up a scroll.

“This core is connected to several worlds out there. It’s the heart of the universe and everything that happens here can be affected by the outside, and can affect the worlds you come from. We found somewhere that seems to have a source of darkness lurking around…if we find it and clear the corruption, we can help stabilize the core a little more and help protect yourselves while you’re here.”

With that, they seem to lose steam just a little, looking back at Lune for a moment before nodding.

“So, uh…we were able to open a gateway for you to this world. Checking it out might help us pinpoint the source and get this done faster, so…leave whenever you’re ready. There’ll be another gate on the other side to bring you back here.”

That seems to be it, though Sol looks back to Lune again. “Anything else?”

"Look after one another," they repeat again. "And do not believe it is possible to be over-cautious."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find that a simple touch (even accidental) may incite the bond between them to grow stronger for a moment. They will experience a swap of memories through their connection, taking a moment to see a piece of their partner's past without any control over what exactly is being shared.

Mhm. [yes, stan the clown] I know a boy with a lot of friends. He's very interesting. He does a lot to make sure they're safe.

Even if he's in great danger.

I know someone like that too! He's not here though...

[ she's still confused as to why sora isn't here. ]

Oh...?

[A smile curls wider on his lips.]

Would his name happen to be... Sora?

[whitewalls]

[ she blinks in surprise ]

Yes, actually.

... did Axel mention him?

[ they're paired together now, right? so that'll make sense. ]

[wildc4rd]

Ah yes, he did. I guess you would like what I have then.

Do you want it? A gift from me.

[whitewalls]

What is it?

[ this physically fucking hurt me to type ]

[Both arms unfurl, and he very slowly squats down so he's more level with her height even if this makes him a tad shorter.

Both hands raise in front of him, and then come together like he's squeezing. And then he starts rubbing the palms. Something pops out of the creases between his hands. Hm. A yellow shoe. Something thin and metallic-colored.

He opens his hands, and cradled between them is a plush no bigger than one of his palms.]

[whitewalls]

[ it's very obvious that she hadn't been expecting this

her eyes widen in surprise, and she can't help but lean in as closely as she can to the plush/ ]

How did-- it's him! [ she looks up at him. ] Where did you get that?

[wildc4rd]

[Smiling, he offers the toy out to her if she wants to take it.]

A very funny box. It doesn't even need a key, but it takes some time to open. It was inside. You can keep it.

If you can take care of him. It's no fun ruining toys.

[whitewalls]

[ there's a pause, but only a short one before she reaches out to take the plush, holding it to her chest. ]

Thank you. I'll be careful with it.

... is there anything you'd like in return?

[wildc4rd]

[For a moment, he's quiet and considering, still smiling.] No. I don't want anything. [And then he stands back up to his full height again.]

Enjoy. ♦ I really like his spirit.

[whitewalls]

[ she glances down at the plush. ]

I'm surprised he told you...

[ axel's normally secretive. ]

[wildc4rd]

I did say I know a boy who always has the same kind of look in his eyes. He would do anything for his friends, and they would do anything for him.

Maybe he thought we could relate.

[whitewalls]

What's the boy's name?

[ it does sound a lot like sora. ]

[wildc4rd]

Gon Freecss.

[gon and sora would be great friends]

[whitewalls]

Well... I hope you get to see him soon then.

[ unfortunately ]

[wildc4rd]

I'm sure I will. He's never very far away.

[give him GON]

[whitewalls]

[ no ]

Mm.

... this is a long ride down.

[wildc4rd]

Maybe it's breaking, and we'll be stuck inside until someone rescues us.

[whitewalls]

[ she looks at him

then at the elevator doors ]

No.

[wildc4rd]

It's a possibility. This place seems a little old. Don't worry, I wouldn't let anything happen to you.

[The "no" makes him grin though.]

We're still moving. It's a good sign.

[whitewalls]

These things should have another way to exit, right?

[ she starts looking around... where is the secret door..... ]
