week two: mingle

Week Two
26 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.

In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

Hmnn! Hmph mmph!

[she's probably cursing him out from behind the knife that's still nEATLY HELD BETWEEN HER LIPS

she's going to try to swing

to get momentum

she'd rather slam right into the tree than land in clown arms, thanks. doesn't stop her from looking dumb though]

[It's fine. He simply continues to stand beneath her, watching her struggling attempts to get free and get away from him. Only his golden eyes move back and forth in time with her swings.]

I wouldn't drop you. I'm very good at catching things.

[wow she hates him so much but also

her tiniest form of rebellion is that she's just going to release the knife that she's holding her mouth so that it falls

.... even though she's not an awful person, so she tries to at least turn her head away from him so it doesn't actually land on him]

Go catch something else!

[Slowly, he sticks his foot out and catches the knife on the top of it when it lands; somehow, it's not blade-down even though it should definitely have been for him. It balances there a moment without wavering.

And then he bumps his knee to send it into the air where he catches it by the handle. He maneuvers it through his fingers with flourish, and then he looks back up at her.

And smiles.]

I did.

[oh god dammit

that's irritating in its own way and it definitely feels like she hasn't been able to actually win much here. regardless she's just going to try to look around as if there's another branch she can grab onto instead of landing in this stupid clown's arms]

Just move along already - I'm not here for your entertainment!

[He gives her a few more moments of the hope of being strung up and finding another way down. She dropped the knife which was her biggest mistake. Since he, like, caught it.

Casually, without a whole lot of gusto, but with precise force, he flings the knife up to cut her down. No warning, nothing sassy to say.

He just holds his arms open again so she falls into them.]

[personal profile] coastal 2019-06-19 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[really hate that i got to this tag in my tagbomb

but regardless there's not that much she can do about that - because it's not like she's going to intercept the knife with her hand? lili's reckless but she's mostly not stupid.

still, it unfortunately leaves her yelping briefly in surprise before she falls through the air and, unfortunately, lands right into a pair of clown arms.

bad.

the worst part is that she doesn't actually trust that he won't just suddenly drop her so she places her hands on his shoulders only so she doesn't completely land on her ass if he decides to let go]

I said you could keep going!

[personal profile] wildc4rd 2019-06-19 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I will. But I couldn't help not to pick the low-hanging unripe fruit.

[Surprisingly?

He doesn't keep holding her. There's no sudden drop either; he shifts his arms and lets go so she slides right out of them onto the ground.

But then a dagger comes out, pointed toward her at first, close, until he flips it once in his hand so he can hold the tip between pinched fingers. He offers it to her. Since, like, he threw the other one off into the air.]

Don't run with it. It would be a shame to take an eye out.

[ . . . .

she takes her hands back as soon as she can, and doesn't seem to flinch when there is sudden a dagger in her face. she looks at it before looking back at him]

... I don't need your charity. I can go find the one you threw.

[thAT'LL BE ITS OWN ENTIRE ADVENTURE BUT]

You didn't let me fall so... [that's not a thank you but it's an acknowledgement that he did something for her that wasn't absolutely awful, and that's as close as we're going to get!] I don't need anything else from you.

If you say so.

[He doesn't try to force the dagger onto her when she doesn't take it. Again, it flips in his hand so he's holding the hand. The movement of him putting it away is so quick and flourishing that it seems to really just disappear out of his fingers.

He simply smiles and walks by her.]

[ . . . .

she just stares for a moment, trying to puzzle what all that was about

before just sighing]

Impossible person...

[she's gotta hunt for this damn knife now]
