week two: mingle

Week Two
26 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.

In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[ they only look more annoyed at the questioning, and they brace their arm and the remains of their thigh against the tree so they can turn to face her. ]

Yes. [ bluntly. ] Too often.

[ now the rest of their day is going to be gluing this back on... ]
forefall: (where the torches of evening kindle a da)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-17 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
That's unfortunate. Life must be difficult for you.

[ Four begins climbing the tree. ]

May I ask how heavy your leg is, so I can properly manage getting it down?

[ She thinks she remembers reading something about Cinnabar being heavy. ]
globs: (am i supposed to pray?)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-18 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's normal.

[ that's not the part of their life that's hard... ]

... Wait, are you just going to grab it? It's too heavy. I bet it weighs almost as much as you.
forefall: (but is it not enough)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-18 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ Four pauses in her climbing and looks down. ]

If I had my normal strength here, it would be fine, but... [ She frowns. ] How would you like me to handle it?

[ Since... they're obviously not very mobile with a broken leg. An amputated leg. ]
globs: (through the silence of fireflies)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-18 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
...

[ they think for a second. ]

I'll go wait underneath it. You just cut the rope or untie my leg. I don't care which. I can catch it.

[ the question is... how to get over there without crawling around on the ground pathetically. Their dignity!! Maybe they can do a one-legged hop. Experimentally, they push themself away from the tree, taking a little hop and windmilling their arms to keep their balance. Barely. ]
forefall: (o heavens!)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-18 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
... You should find a stick tall enough to serve as your support.

[ A crutch, basically, but.... who knows if that could support their weight? Four doesn't know physics. Or rock density.

Four continues to climb up. Either Cinnabar will make it under their leg.... or Four can let it down and it can break into more pieces. It's fine. ]
globs: (in the waves ive lost every trace of you)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-19 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'd break that, too.

[ absolutely zero hope for walking stick. Cinnabar already broke their leg and Minato's arm in another thread, so let's have them actually make it over there this time to catch it!! Once they're in position, they less-than-gracefully fall back onto their butt again, but, judging by their resigned sigh, it was at least partially planned. ]

All right. Do it.
forefall: (that you are a semblance)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-19 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ it's a hard life for a rock

Four at least makes no commentary on their understandable lack of grace. She cuts through the rope with the weapon she arrived with and tries her best to lower the leg gradually with the rope.

It sort of works for the first few feet, but heavy is heavy, and she has to let go. ]

... Do you want help going back?
globs: (that water can't wash away?)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-20 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ they feel embarrassed about it already, so they're thankful she doesn't say anything... her delayed descent plan for the leg keeps it from breaking on the ground or from snapping Cinnabar's arms off, thankfully, and they catch it with a small grunt (and a splat as some more mercury leaks from the cracks.) ]

No. I'm fine. You couldn't do anything, anyway.

[ so comes their harsh reply, but they're struggling to even stand up, unsurprisingly... in the end, they manage it by using their leg like a sort of cane. ]
forefall: (emptier and deeper than you are)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-20 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ Even if having a leg get snapped off isn't uncommon, it's still not fine. ]

... I may not be able to hold your weight, but how will you manage all the traps here with your mobility?

[ Their lack thereof. ]
globs: (is there any chance)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-20 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
You're telling me there are more?

[ WHY ]

Ugh... I hate this place...
forefall: (but is it not enough)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-20 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, they're placed haphazardly without much rhyme or reason. It's like whoever made them just wanted to annoy anyone who ran into them.

[ She snaps off a twig and throws it a far distance away, setting off another rope trap. ]
globs: (why don't you open your blue eyes?)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-20 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ they jump a little in surprise when the trap springs, then square their shoulders in irritation even more. ]

Well, it's working.

[ if they take the exact path they used to get here back, they'll be okay... right?! After a moment of hesitation, they start trying to hobble back in the direction of the gateway. ]
forefall: (that you are a semblance)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-22 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
[ I THOUGHT I REPLIED TO THIS YESTERDAY wtf

Four doesn't move to immediately follow, but she pitches her voice to be heard. ]

... Would it offend you if I suggest that I walk in front on the way back for your safety?
globs: (where everything i liked)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-22 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I don't need your help. It won't happen again.

[ grumping along. ]
forefall: (o heavens!)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-22 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
... You told me it happens to you too often.

[ She didn't hallucinate that. ]
globs: (what burns inside you)

[personal profile] globs 2019-06-22 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
I meant falling into a trap. I'm not just going to break walking around.

[ but maybe you will limping on one leg cinnabar?? ]
forefall: (that you are a semblance)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-22 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... ]

You are not exactly stable. Your balance is precarious on one leg.

[ it's a recipe for breaking? ]
