week two: mingle
Week Two
26 in Competition
26 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Welcome to your week two mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be hosting a mini-event on Tuesday, so please be on the lookout for that.
In addition, ensure that all of your week one private conversations were reported on the page, and your week two private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

Any suggestions?
[ Akane's short and not very athletic. HMMmmmm...!!!! ]
no subject
[ they need akane repellent. Cinnabar looks at her, then at the tree they were struggling to figure out how to climb. ]
Climb this and get it down.
[ she could stand on their shoulders but the idea of getting touched makes them break out into metaphorical hives. ]

[ That sounds pretty genuine, actually. Her little stick limbs... And she's even circling around it to see if there's, like... Some branches that stick out as really easy or obvious footholds! Doing her due diligence, you see. ]
Hey, do you think there's a ladder anywhere around here?
no subject
[ giving her a look. ]
no subject
[ but she did say 'around here' so fair enough! if she's going to really commit to actually helping someone for once...
Akane starts to take off her shoes and then her tights, because she doesn't want to snag them climbing the tree. ]
no subject
[ watching her as she actually goes to help. Wow, is she going to really do it?! Maybe she is good for something, after all! ]
no subject
She's wimpy and honestly it's kind of sad, because there's a nice sturdy low branch at like shoulder-height, but she has a really hard time pulling herself up onto it, and then has to just. Sit there and take a break. ]
Phew! You sure are lucky I like you!
no subject
if anyone else said this, maybe they'd get a little flustered, but. It's Akane. They're sure she's just making fun of them or something. ]
Since when do you like me?
no subject
She's like less than 5 feet off the ground. Doing great.
Time for the next branch! As she's struggling to get higher, her voice sounds genuine and conversational. ]
The whole time?
no subject
You're not good at showing it. All you do is irritate me and say weird things.
no subject
[ Convenient that she can focus on climbing and not have to actually look at Cinnabar... But she really does have to stop after every single branch like a wimp. ]
no subject
Telling me I should just destroy things without caring is weird. Anyone would tell you the same.
no subject
[ She's made it up to the right height, now... So it's time to... Try and get close enough to cut that rope... ]
no subject
You made that very clear, [ they respond dryly. ] Whatever. It's not worth trying to explain it to you.
no subject
There's no point in explaining. Some people just don't get along, even when you want them to. It's not like I can make everyone like me.
[ It's a bit of a stretch, but Akane streeeetches her fingers out to grab the rope where it hangs and pull it towards her. This way when she finishes cutting the rope with her box-cutter, the leg won't immediately fall and break even worse... ]
no subject
Yet here you are.
no subject
Pretty altruistic, right?
[ Okay, that's not going to work, then. She's definitely not that strong... So, sorry for the extra leg damage, but all she can do is cut through the rope and let it fall. ]
no subject
[ they wouldn't go as far as saying they hate her, but if she keeps up this annoying behavior! then maybe!!
Miraculously, their leg doesn't snap into any more pieces on impact with the ground. At least, not as far as they can tell. Cinnabar sighs; then, rather awkwardly, starts limping towards it on one leg in a sort of awkward hopping motion. Unsurprisingly, this isn't the best way for a really heavy gem to locomote, and they make it about 4 hops before falling onto their face with a yelp, the mercury floating in the air around them spiking up in a panic. ]
no subject
[ And Akane just... Watches... Because honestly, she's not really sure how to ge down from here. It should be easy, right? And yet... ]
... You okay?
no subject
[ their grumbled response might be slightly hard to hear from way down there, but she can trust that they sound petulant! And embarrassed. Not willing to gamble on standing upright again, they crawl on hands and one knee to their downed leg, pulling themself into a sitting position next to it and picking it up to examine it. It looks like it's okay...
Now the problem is getting home. ]
no subject
[ ... Since, you know, she would not have been able to lift it up and bring it to them. Meanwhile, Akane climbs down a branch. ]
I know you're in a hurry to get away from me, but you don't need to rush so much that you hurt yourself.
no subject
No, you wouldn't have. You'd ruin your clothes and stain your skin if you touched me. My poison won't kill you, but it's not gone.
[ and they're not hurting themself!! Trying to be self-sufficient as always, they use the leg as a sort of cane and hoist themself up onto one foot shakily. ]
no subject
[ Getting down was easier than it looked from up there, so Akane finally hops back down to the ground! And then stays over at the base of the tree, since she knows Cinnabar doesn't want her to come closer. ]
no subject
[ taking an experimental hop forward, using their leg like a crutch. They don't fall on their face yet. Score! ]
no subject
If it's worth falling on your face for.
