Week Two

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

A little bit... The new portal is kinda tricky, so I'd need a partner to get through it. Other than that... I was thinking about trying the mountain again. Maybe with the tractor.

There are traps everywhere in that village. It's invigorating.

Are you going over the mountain in the tractor?

Invigorating... Yeah, I guess it is. [ If his heart pounding in his chest is invigorating, then yeah. ]

It's a bit tiring climbing the mountain, so if the tractor can make it up there, that'd be great, don't you think?

[It's delightful! Ground hazards are not fun, but they sure do remind him of home.] It's important to stay on your toes.

I'll be surprised if it works out that well. Tractors are... usually used on flat ground, aren't they?

They're for flat ground, but a mountain is sorta flat, right? If you look at it from far away. [ If you ignore all the rocks. ] The wheels are pretty big? I think that's enough to get over the bumps.

Mm. Akane and I are having a cooking competition, so I want to gather information first. Leave time to practice after.

You two seem close.

When are you starting the competition?

She's been a good friend. Supportive, and stuff.

[ and stuff... no, really she means a lot to him, seeing the way his smile grows naturally, soft. ]

We agreed to having a week to prepare, so seven days from today.

That's good advice... I'll hold onto that. I'll also look into recipes in the library. Something with fish and pears... but with a vegetarian accompaniment...

Fish, fruit and vegetables?

Yeah. I was thinking... fish with pear sauce? Lying on some sort of leafy greens.

I think certain fish taste better with fruit sauces than others.

[He can't tell which ones because he only eats them raw.]

There are plenty of leafy greens to choose from.

I wouldn't know too well... I'll see if I can catch a variety from the sea, later. As for greens... Kaoru knows about the flowers in the garden. I can ask him.
