Week Two

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

That would cause a lot of destruction. Is that what you think is best?

Everyone goes to the movies just to see that kind of thing! It's very popular, you know?

[ Akane please stop conflating fiction with reality-- ]

But a lot of my kaiju are for repairing!

[ first, you have to explain what a movie is?

Four isn't comprehending everything, but she thinks she understands the important parts? (no, she doesn't.) ]

I don't know what the movies is, but if you're working to repair things, I suppose I have less to wonder about.

[specialdog]

Movies are like... Theater, but recorded and played back on a screen! [ she's had to explain TV and movies before, so this is her go-to. Everyone has theater, right?? ]

And my kaiju are always there to clean up after things get wrecked.

[ Yes, theater is something Four probably knows. ]

Do you watch a lot of... kaiju movies, then? Or do you only create them?

[ She's trying to figure out the extent of Akane and kaiju. ]

I watch a lot of the movies and shows! They're reeeaaally cool!

Are they your favorite thing to watch? What's the best part?

[ Four appreciates nerdy sides more than other sides. ]

They are! I like when they do things like--throw their enemy a really long distance, and a bunch of buildings get all smashed up. Or when they move their tail and it makes the whole road crack and all the cars fly into the air!

[ Hm, this seems? Like the violent parts are her favorite?? ]

Or when they use their powers, if they have them!

[ ... Hm, indeed. That's something to think about in the context of other things Akane has said to her. ]

Is that so? They sound very powerful in those movies.

[specialdog]

They're the strongest! They always have to call in the whooole military to even barely beat them. Or! Sometimes! Another, stronger kaiju!

[forefall]

[ That tracks. ]

Are you sad when they get beaten?

[ Because it sounds like... Akane likes the kaiju a lot? Not really the plot of the movies? ]

[specialdog]

It can be kinda frustrating. Like, you know that they're so strong, so it seems kind of cheap that they lose in the end, right? The fight scenes are really fun to watch, and I like to see the flashy stuff the heroes can do, too...

But it feels like it comes out of nowhere and it's totally unfair. Especially when the kaiju were there first or something like that.

It sounds like the kaiju would have to be the hero of the story to win.

[specialdog]

Probably... It's so unfair. The deck is really stacked against them from the start.

[forefall]

Have you changed that for them?

[ With her creation back home? ]

[specialdog]

I've tried, but sometimes it really feels like one bad thing after another...

[forefall]

It sounds like something went wrong. External factor or otherwise.

[specialdog]

Definitely some sort of external factor... Everything was going fine for a long time, up until recently.

[forefall]

What happened?

[specialdog]

Someone showed up out of nowhere and started killing my kaiju.

[forefall]

That's terrible. You probably wanted to kill them in retaliation.

[specialdog]

Yeah. I've been trying really hard.

[forefall]

[ ... ]

You're so frank about it.

[specialdog]

There's no reason to hide it, is there? I'm not wrong, and it's got nothing to do with anyone here.

[forefall]

[ Four smiles a little. ]

... I hope your little kaiju here stays safe. I'd hate to find out what you'll do to someone who accidentally bumps into it.
