Week Two

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

[ she nods forlornly. it's so sad to not have her tablet... but she has her phone, at least... but no service... so... weh. ]

You haven't heard about your partner's?

Not a lot. I don't want to pry, and she hasn't brought it up...

[ And Akane is just so well known for being polite and respectful, you see! ]

Hmm... I don't know. I feel like I already learned a lot. [ About angels and mechas and aliens!! ]

[ Mostly Akane just doesn't want to get on the bad side of someone her life is tied to. Also she appreciates Milla giving her the bed, so she doesn't want to mess up the good thing they have going here. ]

I don't know what you would consider fun or interesting.

Then go off of what you think is fun and interesting. That way I'm learning about your world, and about you at the same time.

Humans have this concept called "comrades". By tapping into the the power of "comrades" they can become much stronger than they ever are apart and can even challenge a tyrant level demon.

[ she just. laughs... She would think that the whole 'power of friendship' thing was stupid and probably would even argue with him, but given that he's from a world with a HUD, she actually. Properly believes that he means something quantifiable and not metaphorical or symbolic. ]

C-comrades, huh? I guess that's how these things--[ pfft, ahahaha ]--tend to work.

[ Akane waves her hand and tries to regain her composure but. That's such a funny concept to her. ]

Sort of, sort of. It comes up all the time in fiction. The heroes always win with the power of friendship.

But real life isn't like that, it's just something they make up for TV!

They don't get any stat boosts at all?

Nobody has "stats" to begin with!

How do they fight?

I guess most people who want to fight would just punch each other?

[ she's not even sure how to articulate real world violence to a guy from ostensibly a video game world. ]

Some people are stronger than others, or faster, or whatever. But there's no "stat" number that gives us a stable reading on it.

I understand punching.

That's terrible from a design perspective.

It's fine if you don't want people to be fighting...
