As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

Yes, I know. Is there any milk?

[ He's a little thirsty. Also, he thinks he heard somewhere before about milk and bones. ]

[came back from war with a bleeding head wound!!! he doesn't know much about human anatomy but he assumes the head is still an important bit!!!]

I- that- l-let me clean up the blood then I'll see about getting milk!

[gesturing frantically with a damp towel]

[ It's a very important bit, but with the way Minato's been going, it's not like a brain injury would be immediately apparent anyways.

He doesn't really want to bleed on the towel, but... okay. He crouches down in front of Kazuaki. ]

Should I tilt my head down so the blood doesn't clot, or up so I keep what blood I have left?

[the towel is meant to be bled on, ok!! at least he's not forced to strip off his scarf to clean minato up]

Um- uh- ... d- down because it's easier for me to reach?!

[and hopefully that's good enough?!]

[ Down it is. Minato tilts his head over to the right so the space where his ear is supposed to be can bleed on Kazuaki. ]

[kazuaki begin the earnest job of patting blood away with the towel. pat. pat pat pat. ... pat?]

... Minato, humans- humans are supposed to have outside ears, right?

[he's not feeling an outside ear here, minato, why is he not feeling an ear]

[ I choked irl ]

...Yeah. We have outside ears. I kinda... lost one of mine? I hope it's still out there somewhere.

[aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa]

You lost it?! C- Can it get put back on? Should we try and find it?!

Maybe. Milk reattaches bones, I think?

[ That's not how it works. Also, ear is cartilage. But he can have hope. ]

I'm also pretty good at sewing. It's just the outer ear that fell off, anyways. I can still sorta hear without it.

[That's...................... that's not how it works, Minato!! Even a NEET knows that!!!]

It's still a part of your body! If- If you make it back home there will be things like- exams and- and- interviews- you should have your outside ear for that!

Here, hold the towel in place.

[WHAT DOES HE HAVE IN THE FIRST AID KIT THAT MIGHT HELP...]

[ He has two ears! Which is why he doesn't look particularly worried about any of this, even though he has to awkwardly reach around with his left hand to hold the towel against his right ear. Because it's the right arm that broke. His right side isn't having a good day. It's also the foot on that side that's bleeding out in his shoes ig ]

You don't have to waste that stuff on me... The endorphins are still going, so there's no pain.

[why does the world hate his partner's right side this week]

But it'll start hurting at some point, right? And- even if you don't feel any pain, you're still losing a l-lot of blood!

[he's trying to speed read these labels okok]

And you're my partner so it's never going to be a waste!

Right...

[ Minato goes ahead and lies down on his side— his left, he's not getting the wound near the ground, and so he won't lose any more blood than necessary. It's not the first time he'd been hurt in battle, but he also doesn't have quick fixes like he normally would. At least... he's calm. Unlike Kazuaki, who would lose blood simply by running around and freaking out, Minato is very calm, keeps his heart rate and blood pressure low and maybe that will be better? Or maybe he'll just go into shock, he's not sure. ]

To fix blood loss... fluids are important. Water is fine. Something with salt or sugar in it is probably better. Are you sure there's no milk?

[Kazuaki's even more careful when he pats at the towel, knowing there's- essentially an open wound under it.]

[he sets an ice pack on top of minato's hand. keeping it cold seemed right?!]

Okay, okay, I'll go get you some milk!

[ Minato is going to get an ice cream headache or something. At least it's numbing the wound, though his head starts to hurt at the same time. He wants to sleep... he thinks maybe he shouldn't sleep, because maybe he won't wake up from it. ]

[ He'll be here, lying on the ground. ]

[SNACK MISSION GO]

[the milk is in no way as important as, like, minato's ear but... ... he really wants milk. and, well, kazuaki has improved a lot but he's still a doormat. he should probably get a bunch of milk, right?]

[he brings a bucket of milk. and a straw. it takes him a while especially because he is a very light bird trying to carry a very heavy bucket]

O- [wheeze] okay!

[ A WHOLE BUCKET OF MILK

that Minato doesn't see or notice because he's fallen asleep/unconscious/is dead ]

[A WHOLE BUCKET]

[... well, kazuaki will take the time to try and actually tidy him up and clean any minor wounds while he's asleep]

[just don't wait until the milk is yogurt]

[ Minato doesn't wake up the entire time Kazuaki wipes the blood off his face. There are cuts on his arms and hand, nothing too deep, scratches on the back of one leg that may or may not have been from his own nailbat, his right arm is swollen and strapped to a tree branch, and his right shoe is filled with blood. That isn't a minor wound, though, so Kazuaki can ignore that. ]

[well, all of the minor scratches end up being patched up with tiny band-aids]

[... he can tell that splint is doing a job and, uh, yeah, he's not trained to fix that. he leaves that alone. ... man, he can't do much for the bloody shoe either.]

[geez is his partner going to die not from murder but... medical malpractice?!]

[ Those are the cutest bandaids and Minato is immediately healed of all minor wounds. His arm and foot are still pretty nasty, though.

Once the last of the minor scratches are bandaided, Minato stirs, sitting up groggily and rubbing the heel of his palm over one eye. ]

...You actually brought milk. [ He carefully leans away from the bucket so he doesn't accidentally drip blood into it. Is he... is he supposed to drink the whole bucket? Or is this for everybody... He plans to back to the battlefield and doesn't want to have to pee in the middle of fighting Oda, so he takes a couple of sips of milk and sets the rest aside. ]

Has anybody died? Of us, I mean.

[you told him to bring milk-!!!]

H-Huh? No! ... oh, no, you're right, s-somebirdie could be dying-!

[WHAT ARE SOL AND LUNE GONNA DO IF THAT HAPPENS?... TRIAL FOR WAR CRIMES?]

I- I think everyone's okay? Well, not okay but alive-

[ As long as they're alive!!! Minato lifts his hands, trying to calm Kazuaki down. ]

As long as they're alive, that's good to know. I should head back out, make sure they continue being alive.

Are you kidding?! You're way too injured for something like that!

[what with the broken arm and the- mysterious- foot-bleeding injury!]

I'm less injured than the dead people.

[ As long as he's not dead, he can still fight... It's the only thing he's good for, anyways, even though he's been sort of terrible at it too. ]

If this is the "corruption," I want to give it my all. Does that make sense?
