Week Two

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. The land might appear a bit familiar to some however... I only advise you watch your step."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"The corruption is still out there, and we're going to do all that we can to find a way to contain it. But until then... stick close to others this week. Do your best to protect yourselves and look after each other. Okay?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

The only oddity is that throughout the week, in a noise that extends past the portal but seems to resound even through the village, there will be the occasional, resounding call of a war horn.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will find ever-growing feelings of anxiety and nervousness dwelling within them the longer they are separated from one another. They will feel compelled to be very close to their partners at all times, and will be on edge if separated for more than an hour by the end of the week. Welcome to surprise codependence at its finest.

[Down the obvious murder path it is, then.

North will put a hand on Naminé's shoulder before they proceed, gesturing for her to stay behind her. Once they're off, it doesn't take too long for them to come across what seems to be... a bloody lump on the ground with several spikes sticking out of it?

Well, no. That's just a corpse. An ex-person. One of the soldiers, native to the world this gateway belongs to.

Despite being the one to tell Naminé to stay quiet, North's the first one to fuck up and break the silence with—]

—Shit.

[SOFTLY, WITH FEELING...]

at the very least, seeing mangled bodies at trial does make this a little easier to see? it's still horrific, but at least it ain't baby's first horrible corpse

at north's curse, naminé quickly look to her then back to the ground. she's not sure if they should go any further down this way than this, partly because the mystery was solved and partly because there seems to be

[There sure are spikes around here.

And the sound from earlier? It sure is coming from somewhere a little closer to them now. Almost like it's... directly behind them? And the closer the rattling gets, the more apparent it becomes that its underlaid by the sound of several footsteps. Hm.

North automatically turns towards the sound, taking a step back and away from it. The floorboard squeaks when she places her foot on it — and something shifts in the walls around them.

Might want to think fast before they turn into swiss cheese.]

Oh--

[ yeah, now it's her turn to break the silence. thankfully, she's used to running away? maybe that's not a good thing, at the very least it means she is very quick to move out of the way of the spikes

it also sadly brings her closer to the dead body, but also farther away from whoever is approaching them ]

[While Naminé runs towards the corpse, North ends up dodging in the opposite direction — and thus closer to the source of the sound. It keeps getting closer by the second.

They've already fucked up twice, so North has less reservations about speaking up when she notices the sudden distance between them.]

Naminé— [Quietly, trying to keep her volume down. Is that a hint of concern in her tone?] Are you okay?

[whitewalls]

[ oh. she's talking. naminé's voice answers, also quietly. ]

Yes. The path goes on a little mo--

[ well, there goes more spikes. there's another sound, which is just her jumping out of the way of them again. it seems like the rest of the way in this direction is very heavily trapped. ]

—Naminé?

[GENTLY ALARMED. It sounded like she was able to dodge, but. Also. Please confirm that Axel and Emma aren't going to kill her for allowing the child to become a pincushion.]

I'm okay. I don't think we're going to be able to go further this way unless we set off all the traps first.
