Week Three

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I wonder if you'll find the skyline familiar? Do try to be kind to those you find on the other side."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"You guys did great minimizing the damage and working together...so keep it up."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to experience the emotions of one another. The clarity of these emotions enhances with proximity, and they will be able to feel the emotions of their partner's intermingling with their own.

[ Akane is munching the salad. She's avoiding the flowers... But, hey, hard to go wrong with veggies, even if it could use a dressing... ]

... Did you follow a recipe for any of these?

[compendiem]

[There's dressing on the fish if she's really desperate.]

The pudding? The curry too, sort of... I looked up the basic way to cook things, then just did whatever. To incorporate everybody's preferences.

[specialdog]

[ She's... Not that desperate, no... ]

I know it's a lot of work, but if you're that dedicated to meeting everyone's preferences, you should have more... Individualized dishes... Combining lots of stuff into one dish doesn't always work, you know?

[compendiem]

[It's good pear sauce... compared to the rest of the dish ]

I guess... But if I make individual dishes for people, there wouldn't be enough to share. There'd be little point of getting together like this. That's what I think is more important for food. Bringing people together.

[specialdog]

[ God he's so stupid. ]

I guess...

[ She can't even argue. She feels like it wouldn't work. ]

[compendiem]

[He'll take that much as agreement]

Was this fun for you? Learning about everyone?

Mmm... Yeah! It was super fun!

[ What she means is: cooking was pretty okay, and she's having fun with the contest. But Akane really didn't put any effort into figuring out meals for other people, or even ask anyone about their dietary restrictions or allergies.

She just made stuff she thought Minato would like. ]

[compendiem]

[It's all stuff he likes, especially the bread. Minato had fun, though. It's nostalgic, running around and talking to people, doing something for someone, and he'd learned a lot about people too. Nothing much about cooking, but definitely people. ]

I'm glad. Will you teach me how to make coffee spread on bread sometime?

[specialdog]

Well...

[ We don't have time to unpack all of that, but the goal had really just been for Minato to learn to cook, and that seems to have failed, so realistically... ]

I feel like I'm gonna have to.

[compendiem]

[ Like teacher like student, he can make decent dessert... but there's little you can do to mess up mochi, and after that it's just stuffing it with ice cream. ]

I'll be in your care.

[specialdog]

[ looks.... at the food he made.... looks back to Minato...... ]

... Yeah. Me too, in a way.

[compendiem]

Yeah. I promised that, didn't I? That I'd take care of you.

[specialdog]

Mm-hmm! I'm counting on you.

[compendiem]

[ don't count on Minato..... The thought makes him smile, though. ]

Can I take some of this bread home?

[specialdog]

Of course. I'll be glad if you're eating well.

[compendiem]

[ Minato is going to eat nothing but bread for the next few days, thanks Akane. ]
