week three: mingle

Week Three
24 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I wonder if you'll find the skyline familiar? Do try to be kind to those you find on the other side."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"You guys did great minimizing the damage and working together...so keep it up."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to experience the emotions of one another. The clarity of these emotions enhances with proximity, and they will be able to feel the emotions of their partner's intermingling with their own.

Welcome to your week three mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be having another CYOA this week! Sign ups are here and will close on Tuesday at 8 AM PST.

In addition, ensure that all of your week two private conversations were reported on the page, and your week three private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

["Just for him" makes him smile, ducking his head and taking another bite of his cheesecake sandwich. ]

Which ones did you learn from which people? I heard Ookurikara, Shirasu, and Namine helped you out?

Kinjou-san helped me make some sweets a while before, but... That was pretty complicated, and I didn't really plan on learning. [ It was before the contest and she mooostly just watched him do it for her... ]

But Ookurikara-san taught me to make the soup, and Namine helped me with my first try at the cheesecake because my arm was hurting.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
And you made the salad all by yourself? Impressive...

[How do you fuck up salad? Minato can]

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... Minato. ]

It's just salad. And there were cookbooks to follow, so it was like... Whoever wrote those was helping me? I guess?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
If you can cook by following a cook book, that's impressive. Not everybody can do that.

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes it uses words I don't know, or it's a little too vague... If I were back home I could look up videos and that would be easier than following a book, but...

I still think recipes are pretty hard to mess up that badly.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah... instructional videos would've been super helpful. But that's why we have people to help teach, right? Don't tell him, but I went to ask Shirasu first because he seemed like he'd be a better teacher.

[ Not a better cook, but. a better teacher. ]

Ookurikara-san was fine!

[ mean and grumpy but. Fine????? ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I can believe that. You were able to make all this under his guidance, after all.

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes it's good to have a teacher who's... Umm... Strict? [ Sure, let's call it strict. ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
.....So I should ask Lili.

[ She's the one who yells at him most. ]
specialdog: (pic#13190547)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe... She's really mad all the time.

[ ... Akane had a good thing going with Lili until this trial but THOSE DAYS ARE OVER NOW, AKANE GUESSES. And, ignoring that it was a cultural difference: ]

I had to teach her how to make miso soup, though, so I wonder how much she can cook...?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't miso soup something you just pour out of a packet...?

[ How does one make miso soup... Minato doesn't know, but that's not surprising, given everything. ]
specialdog: (pic#13190491)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Basically.

[ That's instant miso soup, but even when it's not instant... It's practically the same, it's just a paste! ]

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Somebody worse off than him!! he shouldn't be glad but he's a little bit glad. ]

I'll have to ask you to teach me soup, too. I thought I could do it. Naminé and I made one that turned out... [ good? bad? hm. it just turned out. ] but not a lot of people tried it this time.
specialdog: (pic#13190508)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be happy to supervise you and make sure you follow a recipe!

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... But I won't always have a recipe. I should be able to do things myself.

[ Hence not using a recipe... The ability to BS your way through cooking is the mark of a true chef, or something. ]
specialdog: (pic#13190471)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
But you start with recipes, right? And then you memorize some, and that means you can do it yourself.

And the more recipes you learn the more you start to understand about what flavors different things have, or how to mix them... I think?

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. I've memorized the blood pudding one, and can make that without a recipe. So all I have to do is incorporate that into other ones.
specialdog: (pic#13190562)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ NO ]

I think you should learn more basic recipes first.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
...Miki suggested regular pudding. Do you think that'll be basic enough?
specialdog: (pic#13190466)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-25 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! That would be good.

I think you're always supposed to start with the basics!

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-25 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I was hoping to speedrun this with what little time I have left. But I guess that's no good, huh...

[ She flicks him in the forehead. ]

Don't say depressing stuff like that.

[personal profile] compendiem 2019-06-26 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ He squeezes his eyes briefly, at the flick, but doesn't pull back. ]

Sorry... You're right. A lot can happen in a short amount of time.

[ Still... somewhat depressing, but not as much. ]
