week three: mingle
Week Three
24 in Competition
24 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I wonder if you'll find the skyline familiar? Do try to be kind to those you find on the other side."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"You guys did great minimizing the damage and working together...so keep it up."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to experience the emotions of one another. The clarity of these emotions enhances with proximity, and they will be able to feel the emotions of their partner's intermingling with their own.

Welcome to your week three mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be having another CYOA this week! Sign ups are here and will close on Tuesday at 8 AM PST.
In addition, ensure that all of your week two private conversations were reported on the page, and your week three private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

The same reason a gun is loud. So you notice it.

The combustion in the engine is what makes it loud. It's still like a gun. Only... you're riding the bullet instead of firing it.
no subject
Why would you want to ride a bullet?
[ he squints at the motorcycle again. ]
Is it for battle?
no subject
Transportation. [He looks thoughtful for a moment.] It could be.
no subject
[ he wants to know what makes this thing so special :\ ]
...How fast is it?
no subject
no subject
How much faster? Like a bullet?
no subject
no subject
[ show him the bullet!! ]
no subject
He rolls it back and straight with a push, foot settling under the gear shift.] Be right back. ♪ [When he guns it, he leans back and pulls on the handlebars. The bike rears but moves, and he wheelies a yard or two before re-righting and zooming away down the road.
It's fast!! Isn't Kara happy.]
no subject
he watches hisoka zoom off with wide eyes, and by the time he comes back around, kara will be considering the other motorcycles again. he wants to try too? hm ]
no subject
If you learn, we could race. ♥
no subject
How do I do it?
no subject
That is to say, he situates himself on the bike the easiest to show Ookurikara the different parts. The throttle, the hand brake, the gear shift near the foot.]
The faster your momentum, the more balance you have. This is how you go forward. [The throttle.] This is how to stop. [The hand brake and the foot brake.] One is for the front tire, one is for the back tire.
The basic gear is called "neutral." You start there. [He raises his foot to click the gear shift.] First gear. You can drive. It'll tell you when it's hungry for more power. [He clicks again.] You can hear it.
Do you want to try with me or try on your own?
no subject
[ this is probably a terrible idea from someone who doesn't even know how to ride a normal bicycle but oh well. to kara's credit, he watches closely while hisoka explains, taking mental notes until he's finished. then he turns to the one closest to him, copying the way hisoka sits on the bike and looking for each of the parts he mentioned.
then he. turns back to hisoka with a slight frown. ]
How do you turn it on?
[ he didn't explain the ignition...? ]
no subject
Very slowly, Hisoka makes a pointed motion out to the console near the front. The key, which he turns, and then the.... well, I have been assuming this was push-start, but just now realized the canon probably is too old school for that, but whatever.
IT'S PUSH START NOW. Kara lucked out.]
no subject
anyway he'll mimic hisoka, and when the motorcycle comes to life he stares at it with wide eyes. but kara isn't one to waste time, so he's already thinking of how to ride this bad boy. which one did hisoka say was to go forward...
he guns it.
and immediately lets go when the motorcycle lurches forward, startled, and nearly loses balance on the bike as it rolls to a stop. this is fine. ]
no subject
Powerful, isn't it? You'll get to like how strong it is between your legs. [;)] But you should go slow first.
You really can't skip the build-up in the beginning, or everything is just ruined. And not in the good way.
[It's great this all goes right over Kara's head. Thank God.]
no subject
though occasionally the bike does still jump forward because he's still trying to figure out how to do this more smoothly. ]
no subject
Ahhh, it's funny.]
Better than a horse?
no subject
[ he sounds annoyed, but he's... slowly... starting to get the hang of it. ]
no subject
[Both arms fold out over the handlebars. He's having a great time.]
You have to go faster to retain balance. But faster is more dangerous, right? Your choice.
no subject
[ so... obedience, i guess?? whatever, it works, there's no need to be weird about it.
kara frowns at the throttle... there has to be a way to do this more smoothly, but if hisoka says he should go faster to stay balanced, it's worth trying. slowly, carefully, he ups the speed, the bike jumping forward with every other burst of speed, until he finds it's suddenly not so hard to balance after all?
but then he realizes he has no idea where he's going or how to control this thing now that he's moving. that. could be a problem.
but he's driving it now, so that's something! ]
no subject
He catches up enough to just cruise along.]
You have to turn, you know. Like a horse. [He swings back and forth across the road with his own.] When it growls, feed it. [He pointedly shifts his foot up to nudge his into a higher gear.]
Then you can go faster...
