Week Three

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.

"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I wonder if you'll find the skyline familiar? Do try to be kind to those you find on the other side."

When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.

"You guys did great minimizing the damage and working together...so keep it up."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to experience the emotions of one another. The clarity of these emotions enhances with proximity, and they will be able to feel the emotions of their partner's intermingling with their own.

The idealist in me wants to say yes. The realist in me says "maybe not." Especially if you consider that, perhaps, the person you like isn't the person who's going to like you.

But that isn't a reason not to try.

Then realistically, the only way to be certain you'll be loved is to make sure that you're the type of person others would be able to love.

Even if that's not the person you actually are?

I'm not saying it's a good idea! But it's the result, isn't it?

[ she laughs. Just playing devil's advocate! ]

Something like that would be pretty impossible to fake, anyway.

[twinsightful]

What, you've never met an actor before? [There's one person in particular he's thinking of who's very good at hiding their true nature. Wonder what that means.]

[specialdog]

Sure, but no one could keep it up forever.

[twinsightful]

Probably not. [Hm...] So what makes a person give away their true nature, you think?

Why do we always end up talking about silly stuff like this?

I don't know. It depends on how badly they wanted to "become the mask" or whatever, doesn't it?

[He rolls his eyes.]

Fine, fine. What would you rather talk about instead? I can go back to talking about how the cheesecake can improve.

I didn't say it was bad. [ It's just funny! ]

[twinsightful]

No...but perhaps I'm interested anyway. So? [It's a challenge.]

[ She's bad with challenges!! ]

What a boring answer. Everyone has some kind of preference.

Hmm... Hobbies then, I guess.

Like what sort of stuff you would normally do for fun if you weren't in a place like this. What sort of stuff you enjoy.

[twinsightful]

Are you asking me? Or is that a statement of your preference of conversation? Those are two different things, and the answer might be longer than you think.

[specialdog]

I was answering your question about what I'd like to talk about.

But the next step is to turn it into asking you properly. What are your hobbies?

[twinsightful]

[A half-grin. Somehow that's an interesting choice, but it's not really so bad.]

Hikaru and I used to play video games. [Start with the "normal" hobbies first.] Otherwise, art in a few forms. Mostly design, some drawing. Things like that. I'm not sure traveling or the host club count as hobbies, but those take up a deal of time as well.

[specialdog]

I like video games too, and designing monsters to sculpt. But I've never traveled much--and don't know much about host clubs.

Are those fun?

[twinsightful]

Ours is. [Because he's clearly not biased at all.] That's the entire point of our club, to ensure everyone has fun. It wouldn't be in business if we didn't satisfy our guests needs.

[...] You sculpt? [That seems sort of normal but also please tell him.]

[specialdog]

But is it any fun for the hosts, then? Customers and hosts would enjoy different stuff.

[ and she nods at the sculpting. ] Yeah, it's my hobby.

[twinsightful]

...it's some of the most fun I've ever had. [It's probably one of the most sincere things he's said the entire time they've been here.] So I'd say it works out.

What kind of monsters do you make?

[specialdog]

Hmm... I think I kind of get the appeal. [ People paying to feel liked, or being paid to pretend to like someone...? Either way--wanting to be wanted. She understands that. ]

I just make whatever seems interesting. Coming up with new designs is the fun part.

[twinsightful]

I'm surprised you haven't tried sculpting anything here. It's not like you couldn't try to find materials. [Is he being a good Host and turning the conversation around to her? Like, yeah, maybe a little.] I'd be interested in seeing your work, I think.

[specialdog]

I've done a couple carvings! I even got a box cutter in my puzzle box from a while back.
