week three: trial
Week Three: Trial
22 in Competition
22 in Competition
It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.
The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with the glass boxes perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Swift Wind and Hisoka's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.
Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. It's only when everyone has gathered that Sol speaks first.
"We've got a lot of ground to cover today. Don't give up."
They stop, glancing at Lune and gesturing for them to say their piece.
"Face the truth directly, and don't turn away from what you may find."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fourth trial!
We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.
As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.
Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord! Dana and Ty will be in the chat and available for all questions. Thank you, and have fun!

well, guess he's going to follow the prints first and try not to fuck up anything else in the dirt if it's soft enough for that?? what does their spacing look like? does the horse look like he was running, was it a steady, slow gait, does it look frantically spaced, all over the place, what's the state of the hoofprints?
because someone remembers what a messy bitch Swift Wind was when murdering. ]

This is... a mess.

The hoofprints actually look like the horse was taking a nice leisurely walk. They lead from here to the farmland, but they can also see that the hoofprints lead back toward the houses. However, there are also a lot of other slightly unidentifiable prints mixed in with the debris.
As Axel and Val approach, they'll find that the food left out matches the food that's been spread and knocked around. It includes things like: chocolate apples covered in almonds, apple nachos, chocolate apple pie, mushroom apple salad, mushroom apple pierogies, and some alcohol. Some of these might be harder to identify because everything's been trampled on and scattered around, but some looking will help. The alcohol is knocked over and spilled, bottles on the floor. There's also a cup that's on the table, knocked over as well. The food seems normal, but the cup if Val sniffs, despite being empty, does have that slight cyanide lingering scent.]

[ ... a friend? someone who pretended they were one, at least? there's nothing saying a corrupted can't try to lure their victim in under the guise of pretending to be another worried victim-to-be... anyway.
slightly unidentifiable doesn't mean completely unidentifiable! so like, are they at least human. are they big. small? what can still be made out of them.
also to clarify, does it look like the prints started at the houses, went to the farmlands, then went to the amphitheater, or was it house -> amphitheater -> farmland? ]

[ like. what. what the fuck? anyway axel's gonna be taking pics of all of this. he has a gummiphone. first the mess, then the messed up prints for later. once that's done, since val has the sniffer and julius has the footprints, axel's gonna try taking a deeper look around to see if there's anything else of note in the amphitheater if they go deeper in ]

If you're part of a murder that's the only reason to be awake. I'd like to imagine he's smarter than agreeing to go with another person. ... Though perhaps he was worried for his partner?
[Who knows. Anyway. What kind of alcohol is around?
He picks up a cup and sets it aside on one of the seats at the front of the theater. He'll bring it back once they're done here..]
There is some cyanide in this cup.

Strangely, it seems like there's nothing else of note in the amphitheater. It's just a very messy feast with booze and cyanide thrown in. At least not all of the food is wasted, as there are dishes that look presentable enough.]
no subject
[ ... uh. ]
Hey. In the dream- he was returning to the houses when he collapsed, right?
What do you think the odds are that he was poisoned before curfew and only succumbed afterwards? He might not have been as wary if he hadn't actually been awake when he wasn't supposed to be.
[ or are there any cut up ropes... anywhere here. if they were found elsewhere i'm just going to quietly lie down, shh. ]
no subject
[ but... that theory. ]
... Isa said he was tied up with him before curfew.
[ his name's saix you dumb bitch? anyway is there really just the food???? ]
no subject
Who's Isa?
[Is that all that's here? Wow. It's just a messy feast laced with cyanide. Hey does the food look well made like somebody who knows what they're doing in the kitchen? Or at least the parts of the food that hasn't been crushed.]
no subject
Go ye forth. ]

Did Isa notice anything odd about Swift Wind while tying him up...? Who do we know that would be able to make a spread like this, anyways? I doubt the corruption would suddenly turn an inexperienced cook into someone capable of making all this.
[ because that sure is a lot of apple cuisine apparently properly made. ]
Because from the looks of things, he wasn't worried at all. [ or resigned to his fate if possibly to spare his partner if what val said about being concerned for isaix is valid, but axelea was shot down pretty hard for suggesting it. ] Matches the lack of struggle North found.
[ if he follows the hoofprints back towards the farmland and village, they. they are facing the correct direction to have confirmed that swift wind was heading back to the village, right? does his leisurely pace seem to stay the same for however far julius will be able to track them to, which is ig the edges of the amphitheatre area? ]
