week three: trial

Week Three: Trial
22 in Competition

It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.

The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with the glass boxes perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Swift Wind and Hisoka's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.

Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. It's only when everyone has gathered that Sol speaks first.

"We've got a lot of ground to cover today. Don't give up."

They stop, glancing at Lune and gesturing for them to say their piece.

"Face the truth directly, and don't turn away from what you may find."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fourth trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.

If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord! Dana and Ty will be in the chat and available for all questions. Thank you, and have fun!

So let's fix that. We need to know who used Toxicity, right? So lets ask the water and ice aligned we have left to demonstrate their skills.

Right now, Lili is the only person we know for certain who has it, right? Other than Swift Wind. Or am I forgetting somebody?

I don't think you are. If someone else has it, it isn't public knowledge.
twinsightful: (THOUGHTFUL ♜ Lay it on me)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Have we confirmed it wasn't the horse in the first place? Maybe it was a murder set-up gone wrong.

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-30 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Even if he did use his, there were two water powers used. Shirasu used his power during the trial, so the second couldn't have been him.
twinsightful: (ANNOYED ♜ For real?)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Who else is water that's used their powers in this trial? Everyone.

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-30 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
...Would it still count as using a power for a kill if they didn’t use it during the same week they killed the person? Because someone could have summoned the poison, then changed their power to hide it when we asked for a demonstration.
twinsightful: (CURIOUS ♜ I don't really get it)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I actually don't know. Is it confirmed a poison manifested from a power could be kept for an amount of time...?
foodbin: (pic#13146172)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-30 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
...I'll ask Lune both.

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-30 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
[nyooms back in]

It would count as part of the murder, but it would lose all effectiveness after seven days.
twinsightful: (THOUGHTFUL ♜ A real Sherlock or somethin)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. So it's possible but not likely that someone planned very far in advanced.
foodbin: (pic#13146168)

[personal profile] foodbin 2019-06-30 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
So whoever made the poison had Toxicity very recently, even if they don't have it anymore...?
twinsightful: (SNEAK ♜ Don't mind me)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
That would be my thought, yeah. That's the only thing that logically adds up.

[personal profile] televised 2019-06-30 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
We haven't. But I just... can't see him using that power again after what he went through.
twinsightful: (CALM ♜ Let's focus)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I can't either which is what's strange, but I know Lili didn't do this. So that's our answer. Either someone's lying about having Toxicity, or there's something really obvious we're missing here.
unfriendliest: (trademark ookurikara face)

[personal profile] unfriendliest 2019-06-30 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
There is an ability that lets you copy someone else's, isn't there? Couldn't they use that?
twinsightful: (UNSURE ♜ Eyes the size of the moon)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
...that. [Oh.] That...is water, isn't it.

[Holy shit.] But then what would it be copying?
unfriendliest: (@ god why)

[personal profile] unfriendliest 2019-06-30 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Toxicity? That seems to be how Swift Wind died.
twinsightful: (SUSPICIOUS ♜ What the hell is that.)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
[He's looking at the power scroll hanging up now.]

Hey. Has anyone asked Lune or Sol what "a certain degree" actually entails?
unfriendliest: (Default)

[personal profile] unfriendliest 2019-06-30 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ good question ]

...I will.
unfriendliest: (down to business)

[personal profile] unfriendliest 2019-06-30 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ alright he's back ]

They said a copied power would be an incomplete version of the real thing, if the one reflecting it isn't careful. So if they copied Toxicity, it wouldn't be as strong... but they could still do it.
moonprisonpower: (what now)

[personal profile] moonprisonpower 2019-06-30 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
And it would lose its lethalness within four days.
twinsightful: (ALERT ♜ Oh I see)

[personal profile] twinsightful 2019-06-30 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
So then the question is if they copy a power, that doesn't count as an actual power for that element does it? Those numbers wouldn't work out.

...so it's still possible.
