week three: trial
Week Three: Trial
22 in Competition
22 in Competition
It may be difficult to sleep with the light shining so brightly throughout the night, but the participants can rest easy knowing they will not be plagued by unwanted, disturbing dreams. Early the next day, a bell chimes and all will feel compelled to enter the main meeting hall.
The hall looks mostly the same as it always has, the two thrones for Lune and Sol at the head of the room and scrolls hanging from the walls. The metal box sits on a table near the front, along with the glass boxes perfectly centered before the benches in the room. Now that the trial is in session, Swift Wind and Hisoka's coffins are open, and their bodies will be available for examination.
Lune and Sol are seated in their thrones, patiently waiting for the last participant to settle. It's only when everyone has gathered that Sol speaks first.
"We've got a lot of ground to cover today. Don't give up."
They stop, glancing at Lune and gesturing for them to say their piece.
"Face the truth directly, and don't turn away from what you may find."

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fourth trial!
We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.
As noted, there was no investigation period on Friday. However, today participants will have the chance to investigate areas in the game setting as they see fit! This can be done by providing the name of the location you want to visit to the host header comment. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. In addition, these locations can be manipulated and adjusted upon request to test theories and solve puzzles, so please feel free to ask if you're searching for clues! Your host will also be accompanying you on these visits.
Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously.
If you have any questions at any time, please let do us know by pinging us on Discord! Dana and Ty will be in the chat and available for all questions. Thank you, and have fun!

[pardon him while he tries, yet again, to back the fuck away from the sword; there's not really a lot to be done with broken legs, though, and he finally exhales a harsh breath.
the fearfulness may not get milla an entirely clear answer, however.]
...you don't understand. I've seen her, I know what she can be like-- she'd have killed me. I know she would have killed me eventually. I had to try to find someone else.

In the meantime, Shirasu's struggles earn him a free new sword in the neck. Her composure, regardless of her inside, is cool]
You are correct at that—I do not understand.
Explain as much as you are able. Why do you fear... her. What have you seen?

Stop it! Stop it stop it STOP IT!
[ Four is in tears. ]

What is it?!

Stop him! Please stop him! I can't handle this anymore!

[it's more of a hiss than anything-- the fear still extends to her, and he looks even warier of her as he says it.]

[he shakes his head, but that's the last he'll say of it; he just shrinks a little further from her.]
no subject
She doesn't want you to know. Of course she doesn't.

[ There's only fear here. ]
no subject
[any other time, it would be accusatory. it loses its impact considering he's still shrinking back.]
no subject
[ This is just a fear feedback loop. ]
no subject
If one of you is a liar, the rest will be clear!
no subject
[a shuddering inhale, there, a shake of his head; recalling it seems to make the emotions a little worse. the feedback from four is super not helping.]
...it doesn't matter now. You're not going to let me live, are you? At best you're going to kill me through inaction.
[gestures at the clock, he will be a no-vote considering he's stuck here,]
no subject
We shall yet see what the future holds for you, Shirasu.
Until then, I will keep others at bay.
no subject
[the fear sparks a little agitation, there-- he still doesn't want to die, not like this.]
no subject
I would no sooner kill Four than I would you, at the moment. That is not my purpose.
Give me your vote.

Anyway.]
I still want to know the answers to your murder of Kazuaki in the week prior.
Did you work alone, or with an accomplice?
Answer me true, and I will personally see to it that you have a mode of transport this week.

[she's been threatening him for how long, at this point? he is absolutely still afraid of her, there is zero trust here that she'll actually assist.
beyond that:]
I don't-- want your help.
no subject
You will have to take it regardless, or die.
[Because she's
Yes
Milla is princess-carrying Shirasu in the direction of Lune and Sol. She ain't fast, but she's doing it!!]
