week four: mingle

Week Four
22 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"We've been asked to open another gateway for you guys, but...it's funny. It sort of feels like things have calmed down. The corruption's temporarily evened out and the universe is stabilized for now, but that doesn't mean we should stop looking. Take a look and see what you can find on the other side. You might even get to learn something new."

When Sol finishes, they turn to face Lune, allowing for the other to speak for themselves.

"A bit of reprieve of welcome, isn't it? Please take this time to recover, even as you make steps forward to continue your good work. Thank you, thank you."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, partners will be able to hear each other's thoughts whenever they look at one another! They may not hear every single thought that occurs, but the link will partners to hear thoughts as though their partner is speaking out loud. The more private the thought, the more likely the partner will pick up on it.

Welcome to your week three mingle! As a reminder, this is break week! This means no murders and no trial! Your normal schedule will resume next week. We will still be hosting a laid-back mini-event on Tuesday, however.

In addition, ensure that all of your week three private conversations were reported on the page, and your week four private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[yeah, that was a difficult task.]

Are you getting enough rest, Cinnabar?
globs: (if you're not the same)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-01 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ cinnabar's feeling a little bashful about being caught sleeping - outside, nonetheless! - but they shake it off as best they can. It's just Shess. (Paradoxically, the fact that it's just Shess makes them feel both more nervous and more relaxed at the same time.) They shift to sit up a little more. ]

It's dark in the shade. That's all.

[ AKA: probably not, if their inclusions don't have the energy to keep them awake here. ]
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 12-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-02 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry. Am I keeping you up?
globs: (if in the hands of gods)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-03 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ at that, they rapidly shake their head, blinking to try and wake themself up before Shess goes away. His attention is a precious resource to the lonely Cinnabar. ]

N-no! You're not. Like I'd sleep out here on purpose.

[ they say this even though they sleep in a cave every night. ]

... How long?
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 12-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-03 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure. I only noticed some minutes ago.
globs: (in the waves ive lost every trace of you)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-03 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ sigh. ]

... That was sloppy.

[ if this happens again at a less opportune time - thursday, for example - then they could easily be killed. That bothers them. Also bothering them is the idea that Shess had several minutes to see them sleeping, which is embarrassing as hell, especially once they realize they've left a big puddle of mercury behind. Their lips press together into a thin grimace of shame, and they begin picking up the flowers they'd spread about - the ones that weren't touched by the sludge, at least. ]
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 20-2)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-03 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[at least he wasn't around for most of the minutes because he had to go fetch the pillow.]

Perhaps. But no harm done, and it's nice to get a nap in, isn't it?
globs: (we are shining in the rising sun)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-03 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Not where everyone can see me...

[ how EMBARRASSING!! They actually don't notice the pillow until just now - with a hand full of flowers, they turn to pick up their clipboard, then spy the pillow, darkened with an impression of their head. Cinnabar blinks. They know they didn't bring that with them...

They look back over at Shess, eyes questioning. ]
globs: (as we were dancing in the blue)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-03 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
... You put that there?

[ a furrowed brow. ]

You'll hurt your hands.
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 20-2)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-04 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Just sleeping on the ground seemed uncomfortable, even if you may be used to it.
globs: (what is my fate?)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-04 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ even at this stage, they look surprised, blinking a few times. Having someone actually care about their comfort (and being able to believe they're being genuine about it, too) is so strange and foreign. There's a ticklish feeling in their cells, like when they touch a jellyfish the wrong way. ]

... It doesn't matter. I'm fine. All you did was ruin a pillow...

[ it's hard to sound gruff about it, and they don't manage particularly well. ]
nonbelligerent: (the return. 4-4)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-04 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
We don't exactly have a shortage of pillows around here.
globs: (i'm supposed to say?)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-04 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ at that, they just grunt, stooping to pick up the pillow, too, with their usual delicate touch - except they turn around and shove it against Shess's chest, a little maroon blush peeking through their powdered face while they glance off to the side. ]

You're so strange. [ a beat. ] Take it back.
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 20-2)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-07 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
If you insist.

[he'll just hold it under his arm, then...]
globs: (i'll never come back)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-08 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ Victory?? Maybe?? They need a change of topic, fast, or else they'll just be standing here awkwardly, thinking about how thoughtful it was of Shess to get them a pillow (he'd have to have seen them, thought they looked uncomfortable, then gone all the way to get a pillow and come back, only to try and move their head? it's outrageous.) ]

-- Tell me what kind of flowers these are.

[ they gesture with them very slightly - the ones in their hand. They're all just pansies, but Cinnabar doesn't recognize them, apparently. ]
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 1-5)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-08 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Those? They're pansies.
globs: (i am softly watching you)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-08 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Pansies... huh.

[ nodding, Cinnabar gently tucks the flowers into the cleft between the clip and the board, then pulls the colored pencil out of their back pocket, apparently writing down the name. ]
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 1-6)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-08 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you interested in flowers, Cinnabar?
globs: (that trouble's gone)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-08 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ they hesitate before answering, as if they're not sure they want to say this. But it's Shess - they can probably afford to be a little vulnerable. ]

... Not really... But I haven't seen these before on our island. The others might like them.

[ tucking the pencil into their pocket again. ]

If I survive, I'll bring these back to show them.
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 1-5)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-10 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a nice gesture. If you can get seeds, you can even have the others plant them.
globs: (just to get some attention from you)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-11 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
T... They're my friends, so... it's normal.

[ even cinnabar can try and do nice things sometimes!! ]

I don't know what the seeds look like.
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 12-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-07-12 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
I can try and find a picture in the library, if you'd like.
globs: (where are you?)

[personal profile] globs 2019-07-14 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I can do that on my own... You don't have to trouble yourself. [ a sigh. ] ... I doubt they'll really be in the mood to plant flowers.
