week four: mingle
Week Four
22 in Competition
22 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.
"We've been asked to open another gateway for you guys, but...it's funny. It sort of feels like things have calmed down. The corruption's temporarily evened out and the universe is stabilized for now, but that doesn't mean we should stop looking. Take a look and see what you can find on the other side. You might even get to learn something new."
When Sol finishes, they turn to face Lune, allowing for the other to speak for themselves.
"A bit of reprieve of welcome, isn't it? Please take this time to recover, even as you make steps forward to continue your good work. Thank you, thank you."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will be able to hear each other's thoughts whenever they look at one another! They may not hear every single thought that occurs, but the link will partners to hear thoughts as though their partner is speaking out loud. The more private the thought, the more likely the partner will pick up on it.

Welcome to your week three mingle! As a reminder, this is break week! This means no murders and no trial! Your normal schedule will resume next week. We will still be hosting a laid-back mini-event on Tuesday, however.
In addition, ensure that all of your week three private conversations were reported on the page, and your week four private conversations are reported on that page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

You tryna coax it out, or are you just staring at it?
no subject
Wouldn't I simply scare it off if I push too hard?

[ that's a fucking lie, actually. but wait, what do you mean you don't just let them come to you. ]

... what would I need to do, though.
If I'd wanted to try to coax it out.

Well, few points. Food helps. I used to coax cats out by leaving fish and stuff hanging out close-by. Unfortunately neither of us are Vally so we're not conveniently carrying sardines around at all times. [ he shrugs in a "what can you do" kind of way ] Second, you can't just stay and stare at it. You gotta talk to it a little. They don't understand, but you'll look less like a weirdo predator waiting to strike. The crouching was good instinct, though.
[ a single compliment after calling him a weirdo predator does not make up for it. ]
If it comes out closer an' you wanna try petting-- hold out your hand as a closed fist. It lets 'em smell you first and open hands are spooky.

[ he is
desperately trying to pretend as is he isn't taking mental notes, but let's be real, that was doomed to failure from the start.
so instead you get this reaction instead as he. adjusts his posture some??? less directly facing. ]
no subject
[ he's not taking it back. ]

[ listen. ]

Horrifying, I'm sure.

For a cat. You're really stuck on that, man.
no subject
[ maybe idk, doing anything of what axel said, julius?
except talking to it. how do you talk to a cat. what do you even say. ]
no subject
[ the cat is not leaving, but since julius isn't watching him, axel is being an asshole ]
no subject
[ says the kid whose gaze slides obviously over toward the corner of his eyes to check on the cat regardless
the cat who is now grooming itself obliviously. ]
no subject
You don't want it to, though. So you gonna do something about it?
no subject
[ 'after you,' if they're gonna do this. ]
no subject
[ he turns to the cat and uh basically talks to it like normal except with a quieter tone. this is terrible. ]
Hey kitty. Sorry this guy's a weirdo. Promise he just wants a better look at ya.
no subject
wait, hm. it pauses a bit to eyeball axel as he talks to it. ... and then goes back to grooming.
julius does not exactly say anything, but his entire expression basically just reads as "so was that a positive response or a negative one", so. ]
no subject
Man, that's one clean routine you've got going on there, kitty. You think I could get you to teach Minato somethin' like that? No, wait, never mind, he'd just start licking himself and that's worse. Really wish I had some tuna for ya right now.
no subject
Don't listen to him, he's talking nonsense. Your grooming routine is perfectly fine for you, but probably shouldn't be taught to any of us.
[ this is terrible. ]
no subject
I already said he should forget about it! You trying to make me look bad in front of the cat, now?
