week five: mingle
Week Five
22 in Competition
22 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Lune who speaks up first this time.
"Good morning, good morning. You've done well to purge the corruption in the previous gateway - allow us to assist with the finishing touches. For the time being, it would appear as though we've been able to locate another. I would not grow complacent, but I also wonder if you all might enjoy the surprise."
When Lune finishes, Sol chimes in from their place at Lune's side.
"Maybe we can have another week like the last. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Good luck out there."
The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.
In addition, as the week goes on, partners will begin to see odd mirages and hear voices calling for them. Even though they might not realize it, these phantoms that will be haunting them will be their partner's most important person, calling for them to come home. Partners will only be able to see each other's illusions if they make physical contact.

Welcome to your week five mingle! As a reminder, murder proposals are open. We will also be having another CYOA this week! Sign ups are here and will close on Tuesday at 8 AM PST.
In addition, ensure that all of your week four private conversations were reported on the page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

[First of all, this is probably the best gateway because there's confetti and glitter and Kaoru is living. He's not even bothering to shake it from his hair and he's immediately bouncing his way through the gateway to check out what lays before him. That's why anyone who's nearby the tents will find him darting in and out of a few, looking over the wares and picking out a few outfits for himself. If anyone thought this wouldn't be a prompt, I can't help you. Anyway, you'll probably run into him wearing this as he wanders through.
At some point, he'll also be collecting a small arsenal of rockets. If you're a friend, he'll turn and grin quite cheerfully with his armful of explosives.]
Where do you think would be the best place to set these off?
[And if you're not a friend, he'll probably pop a party popper in your face. Enjoy your confetti shower!
Alternatively…find him looking over the food, a hand to his chin as he hems and haws over his choices.]
What would you recommend?
ii. gateway - big top
[He's eyeing the rings of fire curiously but otherwise seems to walk his way around the circus. It's exciting, sure, but it seems like the show isn't going to start anytime soon. However, he's also eyeing that cannon.]
Do you think this thing really works? [And would you like to find out?
At some point, you can also probably find him trying to jump up onto one of the floats to ferry himself around. So that's happening.]
iii. wildcard
[He's going to spend a lot of time here because it's festive and it's fun and he'll be more than happy to find masks and costumes for anyone. He'll sample food and he'll try to light the rings on fire himself.
He can also be found in the village this week in the garden tending to the koi fish and picking flowers, or at the boutique working on something or other.]

[ Or do all Fires just have bad senses of self-preservation? This is a broad sweeping question, but it's a legitimate one. ]

I am interested in what will keep us safe and what dangers lie in wait for us, yes. I don't think testing your sense of self-preservation is wise.

Even if it's better to know now than later when we might need to solve another case? [Ah. The ulterior motive here.]

— Oh. [ That's an 'oh' of surprise. ] All right. Then, let's test these things out.

Find me an adult who likes setting off fireworks and I'll consider it. They're probably harmless anyway.
[Maybe.]

There's no point in having it just for show, don't you think?
I'd imagine that if things weren't the way they were- [ no one being here, everything being ghostly and stuff ] -it'd take a fair amount of effort to transport that everywhere. Seems like a waste of manpower if it's only a prop.
