Week Six

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. You've done well purging the corruption in the previous gateway, and we'll be doing the finishing touches ourselves. Thank you for your help. In the meantime, we've got another one for you to explore. It's... kind of huge, so stick together when you can."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Hm... There also appears to be something of a change on the horizon. If you are no longer obligated to those you have been attached to - will you stay by their sides?"

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find themselves capable of seeing one another's memories at the simplest form of contact. For those who are closer to one another, they may see a memory the moment they make eye contact, while those who are less familiar may require a slight touch. The memories will feel as though the viewer is experiencing the event themselves.

While it may not be made immediately obvious - there is no partner effect for the week. The houses of the departed partners may disappear, but there is otherwise no bond attaching pairs.

[ At least Akane cheers up a little when she's around Julius, but that just means that instead of sulking quietly she's... Bitching openly. She has a sword! Which she hates! ]

Ugh, these are always so heavy. Even the light ones. I just wanna swing it around like in the movies, but it's tiring!

Hm? Something well made shouldn't be that heavy feeling. It might just be that the balance is off.

[ Or maybe she has a sword that's too big for her? Either way, his tone is light as he quips while adjusting his cuffs: ]

There's also always the option of riding a dragon and providing air support, all things considered.

[ She likes big monsters, right. ]

Valvatorez-san says that daggers are more dangerous. You have to be closer up than with a sword.

[ She does consider the dragon option for a moment, though. But shakes her head. ]

That's too scary when I'm not controlling them myself. Besides, we're supposed to be playing hero right now, aren't we?

[ Monsters aren't a tool of the hero. Swords are! ]

Well, he's right. But swords are also pretty easy to accidentally hurt yourself with if you've got one not really well suited for you.

[ if you're a beginner, anyway and especially. he 'hms' a bit, taking a look at the sword she's picked up and very much declining to comment on her uh. swooshing. ]

It's up to you what you want to put up with, though. I just thought I'd offer an alternative if the sword was too troublesome. Though, with what you've got... if you're really worried, using two hands and swinging it like a baseball bat should still do plenty enough harm in a pinch.

I've been learning to hold it properly, but now I kinda wanna see what it's like to use it like a bat.

[ She is too intrigued to use her learnings, now. Perfect. ]

Please just think of it as a last resort thing. It's not the kind of thing you'd want to try with every type of sword, and they're not exactly made for that type of swing in the first place.

And I'm not made for fighting my own battles, so it all evens out!

[ No?? It is wildly unbalanced in one direction?? ]

But let's go. Don't let me get hurt, okay?

[ She's more of a follower than a leader, in these situations. ]

I wouldn't dream of it. Go for the machines, I'll watch your back.

[ He's not made for protection, and yet, that's not going to stop him from doing his damned best to try. ]

[ For the most part, Akane's strategy is evasion. She's observant, maybe because she's used to making chaotic scenes herself, so she can tell where the vikings are distracted. When and where she can slip by and duck past unnoticed.

Although it's probably a bit reckless each time she glances back to make sure Julius is okay, so far so good...? ]

[ Lovely, they're both two squishy evade builds ducking and weaving across the battlefield.

Julius for his part is faring decently enough for himself, though he leans more toward distraction tactics, evasive feints, and general incapacitating means than any straight up confrontations. He's seen the builds of the people here; it'd be stupid to pit himself against them in a head to head test of strength.

That said, there's really something incredibly convenient about metal weaponry being conductive. A couple well placed arcs of lightning here and there, or simply messing around with the charge differences in the air around them, and, well, nature does the rest. If a few of the enemy vikings here or there start looking a little twitchy at a wayward spark, either they're smart or that's the muscle spasms talking.

He'd like to call over to her and tell her not to worry about him, just focus on getting by and breaking shit, but he also doesn't exactly want to give her away, so instead settles for making the biggest distraction of himself that he can while keeping an eye on her position. ]

[ Julius plays his role well. Sometimes off-meta team comps work, okay! There are a couple of close calls, but Akane is able to get up to the machine unharmed.

The problem is after that, because she decides that what Julius is doing seems great. What a good idea! Akane swings her sword down against the machine as hard as she can, sending lightning down the blade. It does a great job at damaging it...!

... It also does a great job of drawing attention to herself. ]

[ They don't need two roamers this early in the game, don't @ me I haven't played league in years.

Well. Okay then, Akane. Guess the only thing he can really do here is make a bigger nuisance of himself, because can he make it over to her in time? Probably not. So to that end, once she makes that first strike against the machine, he draws to himself as much static and electricity as he can before letting it all snap out in one big lightning burst.

Even if that stunt does make him start feeling, somewhat faintly, the warning signs of maybe using a little too much at once, hm. ]

[ At first Akane is just smashing the shit out of this machine. Probably well-past its breaking point. She has, uh, some pent up anger.

Which means she is deeply offended when she sees Julius's movements slow. Not by him, of course! But by anyone that moves to attack him.

Hey, it turns out that stabbing these guys from behind them isn't that difficult! Even with her being unused to swords! ]

[ We're all very glad Akane has discovered her calling as a ninja, especially Shirasu, I'm sure.

This isn't the worst he's had to push through, in any case, and it doesn't take too much effort to fend off another advancing viking with a whirling slice before ending up at Akane's side. ]

Nice work. [ he quips, only halfway wry. ] One down, how many left to go?

[ Akane angles herself to put them back to back. That's what always looks coolest in shows, so she assumes it will translate to real life! ]
