INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ Whatever game the saniwa or government or whoever is playing, Ookurikara doesn't have time for it. There's a mission to fulfill, and he's captain. He can't abandon it for whatever the fuck this is, which means he doesn't even bother looking through the houses or the meeting hall or really anything in the village. As soon as he's found his sword, he heads straight for the nearest gate.
One way or another, this thing will open. He just has to figure how. Pushing doesn't work. Pulling doesn't work. Using his sword as a crowbar doesn't work. But there has to be something that does. Unfortunately it's looking like he might need some help, and he's not happy about it. ]
Oi. Do you know how to open this?
ii. main hall.
[ And when that fails, he finds his way to the main hall after all. If he can't escape (yet), he can at least try to figure out what they're doing here, right? Except he spots the profiles and immediately locks onto one in particular. ]
Tsuru... He's here, too...?
[ He hates that he's surprised by this. But maybe that means the rest of the expedition team might be around too...?
Doesn't matter. New priority: find Tsuru and get out of here. So Ookurikara turns to whoever's nearby, points to Tsuru's scroll, and asks sharply: ]
Do you know where I can find him?
iii. wildcard
[ i'm open to whatever will make kara regret his existence the most!! ]
ii
[ Minato purses his lips, turning from Ookurikara to the poster, a little bit of a squint as he tries to see whether he knows this person at all. And he doesn't, not from school or anywhere else in the city, or would have reason to think he would know them to begin with. ]
He a friend of yours?
no subject
He's...
[ "my partner" is what he was going to say, but no, that's Mitsutada. He frowns. ]
We were supposed to be on a mission together.
[ Good enough. ]
no subject
This place isn't part of your mission, is it?
[ He can be hopeful, but he's not hopeful. ]
no subject
No. Unless our enemies appear, there's no point in wasting our time here.

[ there's like an inside joke there, but let's not linger on it. ]
Looks to me like we're locked in.

Then we just have to find the key.
[ It is absolutely that simple until proven otherwise. ]

Then we'll take it from them.

[ he's not giving up that easily!! ]

Or maybe some people can get through it, but not us?
no subject
[ Or they would if they would OPEN. He glares at the offensive thing. ]
If someone else can get through it, they'll have a key. We can get it from them.
[ no elaboration on how, though. ]

but anyway the first thing Ookurikara does when he arrives is go searching for his sword. Eventually he makes it to the houses, but it's not until he's on the fourth one that he finds it but it's.
In. Someone's hands.
What the fuck.
If this were one of his masters, or even one of the other Date swords, he wouldn't mind - but Ookurikara doesn't know this person. He doesn't even recognize him from the scrolls in the hall, because he didn't bother to read any of them. And they're just... holding him, like it's nothing? So he marches right up and snatches the sword out of Feral's hands without a word, taking just a moment to inspect it himself before turning his glare onto this poor guy. ]
Don't touch this.
[ they're off to a great start! ]

He'll give him a look and then gestures at the sword. Why did you do that for??? ]
no subject
This is my sword.
[ Clearly that's all the explanation we need here. It's not like this sword is actually him or anything right-- ]

Fine. I'll find him myself.
[ Honestly why did he even ask. ]

[It's the same stare.]
Interesting. You seem to have brought your own name.

No. No he does not. ]

No, we don't.

[She's trying?]
How come you have yourself as an item?
no subject
[ fuck how's he supposed to explain this to a human. he really doesn't want to go telling everyone that it's his sword, and draw attention to it somehow. ]
Does it matter why?
[ i mean it does to him but. it shouldn't to anyone else. ]
