The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ that response baffles him so much for a second that he just. vaguely makes a turn around gesture while trying to find his words ]

[she tries to flip her hair over her shoulder but in doing so she'll touch one of the hair wraps that frames her face, which is. cold.

and then she's just going to jump]

[ he shouldn't laugh and he isn't, but he is looking real close to it ]

Well, that's a no if I've ever heard one. You alright there? Didn't freeze your hand off, did ya?

It was cold...? But not that cold -

[AND SHE TURNS BACK TO HIM, very close to pouting]

Well, I thought you were using some kinda ice magic on purpose, but it sounds like you had no idea.

[ this isn't an answer, this is just unhelpful ]

[well at least she's so distracted from her rage that it's no longer incredibly cold around her

You'd be surprised what people do when they're bored, even in a situation like this.

It's just an idea, since you didn't look like you were consciously doing it. But the temperature seems to be getting back to normal, so it looks like you are responsible for the cold front.

[coastal]

[hmmmm. her hands will find her hair wraps again - and notice that they're definitely a few degrees below what they should be.]

You said it was magic?

[she hates asking this]

Hm? Yeah. Though for me it's fire, mostly.

[ he demonstrates by making a little baby flame in the palm of his hand, outing himself as a fire person accidentally and immediately because it's so obvious he doesn't realize it's not his normal fire magic ]

Lili watches before nodding as if she has entirely decided something on her own - ]

How did you learn? Teach me. I'll compensate you.

[the entire tone of this conversation went way into left field]

[ the entire concept of being paid to teach teens anything is hilarious somehow? the entire concept of being paid, in general? ]

I don't think you wanna learn the way I did. There are way easier ways. [that don't include joining a cult and dying, not necessarily in that order ] But sure, I'll teach ya. I dunno how good I'll be at it, though. Ice ain't really my style.

[she crosses her arms, irritated again - and the air gets slightly cooler around her]

[she pauses at that, lifting a hand up as if she'll be able to feel it - she does, slightly. the change.]

[she's fascinated by the results of her own anger]

Looks to me like your feelings are what might be triggering it. [ a relatable concept, honestly. ] Think you can try focusing on that for a sec? We'll see what happens.

I don't really use ... feelings? Emotions were kind of a no-no when I was really learning this stuff. [ because they weren't meant to have any, but let's not go into that ] I just kinda think "fire" and it happens.
