Week Zero

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Mine's straightforward enough. I like it -- not as wordy as yours.

[ he's pouting a little bit, though he glances at her's with a curious frown. ]

No kidding. It's like they ran out of words writing mine and had to go sparse on yours.

It's like at the start they thought you were kind of impressive, and then they found out more and that ruined their opinion of you.

[It started with assassinations and ended with psychological stuff. What other conclusion could one get other than the writer deciding Lea was a bit of a joke, she figures]

I thought it was kind of rude to begin with, but now you're really making it sound bad. [ he's? personally offended? ] I'll have you know I'm plenty impressive.

[They should have mentioned in her skills she has almost no tact at all, haha]

Really? Okay, be impressive. I'm not too picky when it's about being impressed.

[If only because she is curious. Curiosity does lead to being impressed, sometimes. Maybe that's why she actually seems kind of eager right now]

What, like on command?

[ what is he, a clown??? yes. but STILL ]

Don't really got anything else on me, so... [ he's just going to go ahead and make a small fireball in his hand ] Wait, what am I doin'? I got nothing I can throw this at.

[ if he sets anything on fire it will be BAD ]

[There she goes. Her eyes widen, not having expected fire to appear all of a sudden. This is a feat!]

I take back anything I said.

[And then comes the obvious problem of what to do with this fireball]

What? Can't you make it go away?

[If anything is set on fire she's going to feel so stupid for being complicit in that, hah]

[ huh. he didn't expect the fire by itself to be impressive. a lot of people can do fire magic. even more people than he knows because he's an idiot who hasn't realized he's not using his mp doing this :/. regardless he extinguishes it pretty easily ]

Nah, just thought you'd want a better demonstration. You don't have magic where you're from?

Well, yes, but it's more like a myth most of the time. And when it's real, it's pretty bad.

[Or so she heard from secondhand tales. Those she saw firsthand were more supernatural and annoying than magical and dangerous]

Huh. Don't think I've ever heard of a world that only had bad magic...

[ disney. still: ]

Well, no matter. Point is, I'm very impressive. Got it memorized?

[ taps his temple as the player prepares a noose ]

Yes. Got it memorized. [She even imitates him, tapping her temple] What you did isn't the kind of thing one can forget easily, you know.

[And she has pretty good memory. This is going to be in her mind for a very long time]

Now that's the kinda stuff I like to hear.

So, about that magic, did you get it from a god or something?

[Kind of a question that comes out of nowhere, but she's wondering that]

Nah. That's not really... how it works, where I'm from.
