INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ for some reason, this idiot is standing right smack dab in the middle of the village, holding his arm out in front of him and opening and closing his hand. like an idiot. he shakes it a bit with a disgruntled huff, speaking to himself: ]
C'mon, again...? I'm never gonna hear the end of this.
[ is he having a fucking spasm. what. ]
b; profiles
[ anyway, axel's strolling leisurely through the main hall, looking at all the scrolls, though he's obviously lingering on his own. there's a bit of a twist to his mouth, though when he notices someone else around, he comments idly; ]
Y'know... I dunno about yours, but mine kind of feels like a bit of a personal attack.
[ he sounds vaguely amused by that, somehow. ]
for mary
[ he's in yo house, pressing buttons on what looks like the world's stupidest toy with a frown on his face, but he looks up immediately when he notices Mary come in. he blinks for a bit before settling into a smile ]
Hey, kid. [ is she lost? or is she his?? potential??? roommate?? he settles for: ] Is that book yours?
[ because he saw the cover and got an extreme case of sad so he's really hoping for a no, ]
wildcard
[ hit me up w/ any prompt over on disco (nightstarred#5441) or
MAWY
Yes! You found it!
[She darts in to pick it up, her pensive look gone and replaced with a big smile.]
Does that mean we’re staying together?
no subject
He doesn't let his discomfort with his obvious soft spot for sad children show, just letting out a laugh ]
That's what it looks like. [ hm. he pockets his (useless, garbage) phone and strolls closer to her, keeping a reasonable distance deliberately to not seem overcrowding ] That book's pretty important to you, huh? [ based on how she reacted when she saw it. ]

"Again"?
[ Topic: latched onto. ]
Have you been here before?
no subject
Nope! I've been lots of places, but this village doesn't ring a single bell.
[ this explains nothing of what he was doing, obviously. ]

I'll say mine is missing the skills I'm most proud of.
[Which is just. so rude? It didn't even mention his Prinny Instructor-ing!]
no subject
A lot of those I wouldn't really call a skill... [ regardless, he hones in on Val's scroll now that it's been mentioned ] What? Don't tell me you're not proud of your knowledge of sardine facts. That's just sad.

Carpal tunnel?
[ Weak grip? There's some strengthening exercise that would be good for him, but Minato would have to google it ]
no subject
Man, I wish. That'd be an easier fix than whatever's happening right now. [ will he explain that? no. ]

[ probably just as wry back, though he's not touching his own profile. ]
no subject
Yeah, well, this thing needs an update. I retired a while back. [ on assassinations or babysitting? axel elaborate-- ] Though I guess that means we've got the babysitting part in common.
[ he elaborated in a callout. thanks buddy ]

Whoever wrote these had a lot to say about you.

[ it sounds like a joke gripe, mostly because the latter part is mildly false, but he looks at hers afterwards anyway. ]
Looks like they totally underestimated you, though. I find it hard to believe carving figurines is your only ability.

lea doesn't react to the call out at first, frowning vaguely at squall. he looks familiar, but... nah... hm... maybe? nah. ]
Technically, that falls into the same category as icky jobs, so it's kinda redundant. [ is that all he's going to say on that?? ]

[She says, fixating on 'gravity-defying', not really finding no fault in Axel's profile other than the skills. It's an interesting collection of skills]
Mine's straightforward enough. I like it -- not as wordy as yours.
[She likes straightforward stuff, less of a mess to deal with]
no subject
Doesn't sound like it's just the hair they've got a thing against.
[ he's pouting a little bit, though he glances at her's with a curious frown. ]
No kidding. It's like they ran out of words writing mine and had to go sparse on yours.

Y'know? The whole trapped thing is kind of a big part of it. [ it's funny because they've been kidnapped? ] Nah, just a thing I can't seem to do right now. It's no big deal.
