The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

How is that creepy? [He raises an eyebrow.] You wouldn't apply for a job without doing some research on the company first, would you? And if you would that doesn't seem very smart.

[She pauses, before letting out a short laugh.]

I get the feeling you don't think those two things are completely different.

[twinsightful]

[Just a blank stare.]

Why would they be? [Emma this is a boy whose family had screening processes for babysitters and the like, not to mention a school where only the rich and powerful exist...besides the scholarship student.]

Because corporations aren't people...?

[Hm.]

Let me guess. Trust fund baby?

[twinsightful]

[He wouldn't exactly say it that way, but.]

We don't have a trust set up. [That would imply that someone's monitoring the family riches rather than being able to just take money as he wants. Also please don't look at his stupid profile.]

But I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the connotation of that term is more or less accurate. Right?

[That sounds like something a poor person would say!! But he's smart enough not to say that. Yet.]

Sort of. [Sure. If that's how commoners want to interpret that, sure.] Our family's one of the richest in the country.

[foodbin]

[She shifts to cross her arms, giving a nod.]

Okay. Lesson one for not being the kind of rich person everyone hates: what I said was creepy is definitely creepy.

[twinsightful]

No one else has ever had a problem with it. [Thats because you hang out with a lot of rich kids. Also Haruhi probably had a problem with it. ] But fine. That doesn't change that those scrolls are there though.

[foodbin]

Not that they said out loud, maybe.

[At that, though, she glances towards the profiles with a frown... And pauses.]

Ignoring personal boundaries, huh?

[twinsightful]

[Well, strangely when Emma brings that up his expression twists into something kind of uncomfortable as he glances at his scroll.]

Evasion? [Is that what Emma's doing here because that's rude.]

[foodbin]

[She notices that expression and gives a pause, shrugging.]

...Okay, I won't talk about it anymore. Noted.

[twinsightful]

Okay. [...it's also easily shifting from uncomfortable to sad so he's ignoring it. Anyway! ]

You don't remember how you got here, so you?

[foodbin]

[There’s another pause, longer this time.]

No, not really. You?

[twinsightful]

No. Other people I've asked haven't figured it out either.

[foodbin]

And it's pretty obvious we were taken from pretty different places, too. I mean, it was already clear something weird was going on, but something really weird is going on.

[twinsightful]

Different places, different planets, maybe different times, too. And with no way out...so why would someone kidnap all of us? And have these scrolls and houses made.

[foodbin]

You got any theories? I mean, not that we have a way to confirm them yet, but...

[twinsightful]

Ransom. [No??] Or we have something our captors want.

[foodbin]

...You might want to rethink the ransom thing. Not everyone here has as much money as you. Or pretty much any money, in my case.

[The second one, though...]

I'm not sure what that could be. I don't exactly have anything valuable. Besides... All of us have an item listed here, right? That means they could bring things from wherever they took us from, so why wouldn't they have taken whatever they wanted right then?

[twinsightful]

[He just makes a face. His theory is still valid okay. But he thinks. This is probably a test, and lately he's been getting better at speculating and digging for dirt. ]

Not if it isn't a physical object. Maybe it's a skill or something.

[foodbin]

[She glances at the scrolls.]

You see something we all have in common? Unless... they needed a pretty wide range?

[twinsightful]

A wide range sounds about right. Something to cater to multiple people. [He's also looking at the scrolls, but he stops in front of the one listing the powers.]

[foodbin]

[She follows his gaze, frowning.]

Yeah... I can't figure out how this might fit into it. You think there's something they need us to fight? Some of these seem pretty brutal.

I've been wondering that, too. I don't know how many people would know how to fight anyway. Or what these would mean or how we could use them.
