INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ The first place Miki ends up, once she wakes up and gets over the initial panic of being on her own and in a place she doesn't recognise, is the main meeting hall. It looks like one of the bigger buildings, so it's a logical step for her.
She doesn't make any comments as she circles the room, but once she's done one loop, she does another. Frowning this time. Finally, she stops in front of her own profile and clenches her fists at her side. ]
They're not here. They can't not be here??
[ Actually she looks... a little panicked. ]
They can't be gone, I was just with them...
nothing is wrong, at all, ever
[ After the initial... wake up,
grab your clothes and put a little (makeup), confusion, and mild panic that one might go through waking up in a strange albeit very beautiful place, Miki manages to stumble her way into the library in record time.Like it was calling her or something. Like it just sensed bookworm and went for it.
But, honestly, something about the library soothes her a little. Books, and paper and pens -- this is all familiar and good. And gives her some grounding. You might be quick enough to catch her on the ground floor, picking out random books and flicking through them before putting them back with an air of growing frustration. ]
This isn't the right place. I can't do anything with these.
[ ... Although she does tuck one under her arm. It sure looks unique, at least?.
But once she's upstairs - that's when things really get going. She's pulling out books, non-fiction, factual, geographical and piling them all on a desk towards the back of the room. Notebooks and pens are found and stacked around her, and with barely a pause, Miki sits herself down and... starts looking. And writing. Like something possessed.
...
...
> Disturb her? ]
wildcard
[ Come at me, brah. For any other ideas, throw 'em at me, or hit me up on discord/plurk for some planning! ]

[ Or... what's not here? Minato isn't exactly sure which it is, but Miki sure is fretting a lot and it's noisy... If he can help, it's all for the better, he thinks. ]
no subject
I...
[ She shakes her head. ]
My friends. I was with three of them, they--they can't just be gone.
no subject
Maybe I can help you look. Where did you last see them?
no subject
[ That's nice and blunt at least. ]
We were travelling -- in a city, we were in a car, not--[ She waves a hand a little wildly at everything around her. ]-- here. I don't even remember how I got here.
no subject
In a car... Kinda hard to imagine something catching up to you in a car. What's the last thing you remember? Are you hurt anywhere?
[ Did you just get into a car accident and we're all dead, Minato is partially convinced they're all dead ]

...
No, not literally. I'm talking to you, aren't I?
no subject
I guess so. There's a lot of us here, we just don't know each other.
That's pretty comforting.
no subject
Y-yeah. I don't recognise any of the people up on these walls...
But we're not totally alone. That's got to count for something, right?
no subject
But we must be from different areas.

nothing is wrong
Four isn't nearly quite as avid as Miki seems to be, but she collects her own stash of books. ]
May I ask what you're researching?
no subject
Oh, uh...
[ She sure has been making notes to go along with all those books. ]
This area, I guess. Information on where we are, or birdseye view maps of the town.
no subject
I've been trying to do the same, too, but I haven't had much luck. Have you had better luck?
no subject
There's information here, but I don't know enough about this village specifically to know if it's relevant or even about this place at all.

BOOK BUDDIES
"Looming" isn't quite the right word, as there isn't anything particularly menacing about it.
A friendly shade???]
What a collection! For a town this small to have such an outstanding library...!

I--
[ AhhhhHHHH. Ok. ]
-- yeah, there. There's a lot more than I thought there would be, considering how rustic everything looks outside.
no subject
[She is genuinely excited, even as she turns to face the girl.]
Judging by your reaction, I assume you were also brought here.
no subject
[ Ah. The love of books. She can understand that. ]
Yeah. I woke up here a little while ago. You're not from here either, then?
