The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[ he brings his arm back after being caught, a bit. :T, though he seems thoughtful for a second ]

Y'know? The whole trapped thing is kind of a big part of it. [ it's funny because they've been kidnapped? ] Nah, just a thing I can't seem to do right now. It's no big deal.

[ it's a pretty huge deal but it's FINE ]

[ They've got different definitions for funny maybe.

She looks at him thoughtfully, then a more pointed look at the hand he just held out moments ago. ]

I don't mean to pry, but it seems like it may have been at least a small deal for you.

[leaberator]

... Just a blow to the ego, that's all.

[ to the self-esteem, more like, but it's fine ]

[forefall]

... Oh. I apologize. It could just be this place and not you.

[ She's making a guess. ]

[leaberator]

[ he huffs out a laugh ]

-- Thanks for the vote of confidence. [ from a complete stranger, it's kinda... cute? ] But I dunno if it being this place would make things better or worse. The entire situation's kind of a mess, y'know?

[forefall]

It is a mess, but that would mean it's not because of your inability. That makes it better.

[ In her very humble opinion. ]

You worked hard for whatever you tried to do, right?

[leaberator]

[ ... he looks at his hand with a wry smirk ]

Yeah, hard's definitely the word for it. [ fucking stubborned his way into it, more like. ] Why?

[forefall]

I'd hate it if I worked hard for something and still couldn't do it, so if it's because of something else and not myself, at least that means my work amounted to something.

[ She nods at his hand. ]

Hard work should be acknowledged.

[leaberator]

[ ....... geez ]

You're being real nice to a complete and total stranger.

[forefall]

[ She smiles a little. ]

Should I be acting differently? I try to be an understanding and reasonable person. I don't want to be cruel. If we're in a similar situation, it wouldn't do to drag people down.

[leaberator]

Nah, don't get me wrong. It's not a bad thing. It's kinda cute, really. [ he's a grown ass man who shouldn't be using cute like that, but whatever ] I'm Lea. We're in the same boat, so we might as well get to know each other a little. Well, more than you knowing me as that guy who needed a little confidence boost.

[forefall]

[ It's fine. Four knows a worse 38yo-looking man.

She does get a little flustered at kind of being called cute, though. She clears her throat because she doesn't care about being called cute. Really. ]

I'm Four. It's nice to meet you, Lea. [ And it's a good thing her memory isn't good enough to remember all the profiles. ] Why don't you tell me more about yourself, in your own words?

[leaberator]

[ lea is saved by lack of memories a lot. he looks put-upon at the question, though, scratching the back of his head ]

Hm, well... There's nothing much to tell. I'm just a guy who likes to hang out with his friends. What about you?

[forefall]

Everyone has something to tell. It's just a matter if we want to tell it.

[ She says that more matter-of-factly than accusatory. ]

I'm a girl who wants to be safe with her family.

[leaberator]

[ he acknowledges that with an incline of his head, but doesn't comment on it ]

Huh. Well, sounds like we're both not getting what we want right now.

[forefall]

Yes. It's terrible.

[ She looks off to the side, her eyes downcast. ]

I wasn't getting that before coming here either, so it's more of a change of location for me. Still, I don't know if it'd be better or worse for me if my sisters were here.

[leaberator]

[ oh no ... sad? ]

... Yeah, I know what that's like. I was separated from my friends for a while not that long ago. Did something bad happen to your sisters?

[forefall]

[ Four takes a deep breath, as if she's trying to keep her emotions under wraps. She's still looking at the ground. ]

You... could say it's something like that. Bad is one way to put it.

[leaberator]

Ah... sorry.

[ after looking sad for her for a second, he shakes his head ]

You've been trying your best for them, right? So I bet once we get out of here, you'll find them in no time.

[ he can also do confidence boosts in strangers, apparently ]

[forefall]

Oh, no, I apologize, too. I didn't mean to turn the conversation so you'd have to encourage me, too. I'm not that kind of person.

[ That's said earnestly. Please believe her. ]

Thank you for your concern. Um, I wasn't the most forthcoming, but my sisters and I are all in charge of different countries, and someone is trying to attack us.

[leaberator]

Hey, don't worry about it. I didn't think that's what you were doin' at all.

[ mostly because he prefers to not be the one receiving encouragements anyway, so he didn't even consider that'd be something she'd try. he gives a low whistle at her explanation]

In charge of a whole country? Wow. That's pretty impressive. So, what does that make you?

[ most of disney works on monarchy but sometimes... rarely... they do Not. what if this is a democracy thing (with all four sisters) (believable) ]

I'm an Intoner. The citizens call me Lady, but that's not... that's not something anyone has to do here.

[ Since she doesn't know if they're anywhere near where her country is. It's a monarchy, but it's a weird one. ]
