INTRO LOG
Week Zero
32 in Competition
32 in Competition
The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.
A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.
Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.
Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.
It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.
Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

[you know? this day is a lot for kazuaki. and so one of his first instincts is to run away, flapping his wings behind him in a pathetic (but adorable) show of panic. his pitter patter of anxious feet eventually leads him up to the shrine where he starts to feel just slightly better]
[still sucks tho]
[so, other people exploring the shrine will hear the faint sound of crying and sniffling. tracing that back to the source will reveal...!! a bird.]
[not a normal bird, like, it's definitely bigger than a normal bird. and it's got a little shawl on. but it's still definitely a bird that is definitely crying.]
Uwaaaa....!!
main meeting hall
[in some way yet to be determined, kazuaki has calmed down a bit.]
[in trying to get his bearings, he's looking up at the large scroll describing the elements and their powers. it's sort of comforting because, well,]
Eheh... it's like a role-playing game or something...

[ No... Minato's a bit tired of the whole magic and fighting thing, but he comes up besides Kazuaki and stares up at the scroll. ]
What do you think? Would you play the hero?
no subject
Huh? Oh, um- if- if it were a video game, probably!
[he bashfully ducks under his wing]
Offline, though, I'm probably more of a... healer... support character? ... NPC?
no subject
A healer or support can be a hero too, though. Those roles... are one of the most important, I think. Keeps everybody alive.

You alright there? Sounds like you're having a tough day.
j/k it's the shrine
[and he stares at this new person and- dyed, spiked hair. leather clothes. is this- is this a delinquent-]
[his birdie mind works into overdrive, turning the gentle question into some kind of threat. Sounds like you're having a tough day. It would be a shame if it got tougher.]
I- I don't have any money!!
[and he ducks down beneath both his wings]
im sORRY
... I wasn't... Oh man. [ this is such a weird misunderstanding. ] Hey, I don't want your money. I'm strictly pro-helping people now.

Does that mean we have to form parties?
no subject
If it's MMO-style we'll probably have to... um- I'm not good at much but I'm really patient when it comes to grinding mats!
[he pumps his fists or does the closest possible equivalent possible with wings]
no subject
Patience is probably good for an RPG party. What else?

Doesn't seem like a game to me.

Shrine
Because of course that's the first thought. With a sigh of nostalgia, she asks instead:]
Do you talk or do you just cry?
[May as well ask]
no subject
[he practically jumps at both the question and- what are you even he wasn't even used to seeing this many humans yet!!]
I- I- I-I-I-! I talk!
no subject
...
...maybe it's because she's far from home and an unfamiliar place, but she's not feeling like attacking the obviously edible bird. Looks like it's time to be sociable and not-intimidating. This isn't going to be easy]
Okay, good. Come on, get over here. I won't hurt you.
