INTRO LOG

Week Zero
32 in Competition

The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.

Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

That'd be nice... but based on our current circumstances, being forthcoming is not their strong point.

We'll have to see what occurs over the next few days.
nonbelligerent: (twisted bird. 11-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully everyone can keep their spirits up until then.

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Humans take weeks to break. I doubt they'll lose heart so quickly.
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 19-2)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
You're right. They can be surprisingly resilient.
omegathree: (26)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Surprisingly... No, that's standard for humanity. They're stubborn and hardy about all sorts of things.
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 5-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
I don't disagree. Still, it's not what one might immediately expect from a species with so little time.

But that's likely why they try and make the most of the short lives they have.
omegathree: (06)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's one of the things to admire about them. They work hard during the few decades they have. Along with their ability to work together and be more powerful than any of them would be alone. The power of camaraderie is strong indeed.
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 1-5)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, they do tend to be better at that than most.
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you familiar with more than just humans?
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I only know a race of aliens intent on destroying the earth with the moon, angels, humans and demons.
nonbelligerent: (lies for you. 12-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Then we're on the same ground. Not those exact races, but roughly the amount.
omegathree: (15)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Four... I wonder if what brought us here is a fifth.
nonbelligerent: (the night it rained fire. 19-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's concerning. The universe was already complicated with that amount of races, never mind another one powerful enough to intrude on their jurisdiction.
omegathree: (18)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Their jurisdiction? Was one of them in charge of the others?
nonbelligerent: (your seven years. 6-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The Primeval Gods created the universe—and all the ones before it—as well as the other races that inhabit the current one.

But I suppose this means there are worlds outside their creation.
omegathree: (39)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
... There's more than one God?
nonbelligerent: (twisted bird. 11-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[he nods.]

My universe has the four Primeval Gods. There's also the natural and created gods below them, but they're technically another type of being, as the Primeval Gods are responsible for their birth as well.
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Where I'm from there is only one God along with something that was calling itself "God".

Do the four Primeval Gods work well together?
nonbelligerent: (your seven years. 5-4)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
We just call the Primeval Gods by their respective name...

[hm.]

Some do, though it'd be a lie to say there isn't any conflict. But either way, most of them have been inactive lately.
omegathree: (05)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Inactive as in hands off or in some other way?
nonbelligerent: (twisted bird. 11-1)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of them have disappeared and cannot be contacted. Only one of them is still around, as far as I know, and she's mostly hands off.
omegathree: (39)

[personal profile] omegathree 2019-06-02 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
They were available for contact before?

You really are from somewhere else.
nonbelligerent: (twisted bird. 6-3)

[personal profile] nonbelligerent 2019-06-02 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I assume it's very different for you, then.
