The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Wow, four whole buckets? That's definitely enough to put out an entire forest fire.

[ c'mon, minato. ]

[ Sarcasm goes over Minato's head. Or maybe, he ignores it on purpose. ]

Better safe than sorry, right? There's no such thing as being overprepared.

[leaberator]

There's definitely such a thing as underprepared, though, and four buckets is about it.

[compendiem]

[ Alright, alright. Picky... ]

How many buckets would I need to prepare, before you set fire to the trees?

[ He will make it happen. ]

[leaberator]

Hm, well...

[ he never actually thought about a number, so: ]

Come back to me when you've got about ten buckets ready?

[ THAT'S TOO LOW ]

[compendiem]

[ About ten buckets... Sounds reasonable. ]

Alright. I'll see what I can do. Will you be hanging around here, or should I find you elsewhere?

[leaberator]

I'm not gonna just stand there until you get buckets. I got other stuff to do.

[ does he, though? ]

But yeah, sure, just come and get me when you're ready.

[ why is he agreeing to this ]

[compendiem]

[ The other stuff could be helping Minato get buckets of water!!! But alright, alright, Minato nods his agreement and heads off.

He will, of course, be back with the water. He can't find buckets, exactly, but there's a miscellaneous collection of pots and bowls and what looks like a helmet from the armory, all filled up with koi pond water. A little more than ten in total, because he's not sure of the exact conversion rate from helmet to bucket.

Everything is set next to the gate while he goes off to find Axel. ]

[leaberator]

[ axel, meanwhile, is eating ice cream in the kitchen, because he's a useless piece of shit ]

Hey... kid.

[ he is just now realizing he never introduced himself to minato ]

[compendiem]

Hey.

[ Minato does not ask for introductions and neither does he ask for a name; he can be kid for the rest of his life, he doesn't care. ]

I got around ten... plus some extra, to account for evaporation.

[ It took him a while to gather everything, after all. ]

[leaberator]

[ he slowly sticks a spoonful of ice cream in his mouth with a bewildered stare, talking around the empty spoon: ]

Alright. Wow. You're really committed to this forest fire thing, huh?

[compendiem]

Hm... I think anything that's worth a shot, is worth a shot. Do you have any better ideas?

[ Now would be the ideal time to pitch any better ideas; literally, any idea would be better. Aside from ramming the gate with a tractor, maybe. ]

[leaberator]

[ not getting smokey the bear called on his ass is a big one ]

Hmm... I dunno. You tried just climbing the trees yet?

[compendiem]

...No. [ That sounds like a smart idea, so of course he has not. ]

I guess I could go try... stack up some of the pots for more height. I'll be back to let you know how it goes.

[leaberator]

[ ... ]

Or maybe I could just give you a boost?

[ he is, after all, unfairly tall ]

[compendiem]

[ Maybe he should be climbing the trees, not Minato. ]

Would you? I'd appreciate it.

[leaberator]

[ no that would require a lot more effort than he's willing to make ]

Sure, why wouldn't I? [ he's just going to. leave the ice cream there. someone else can clean that up ] The name's Lea, by the way.

[compendiem]

Minato. ...Are you not going to finish your ice cream?

[ He will eat it. ]

[leaberator]

I'm not gonna boost you up a tree with a bowl in my hands.

[ it'd be very awkward ]

[compendiem]

You could give me a piggyback ride... I'll hang on, so you have both hands free.

[ Even more awkward, but don't waste food??? ]

[leaberator]

[ ...... ]

Or I could just come back and eat it later?

[compendiem]

[ ... ]

If we're able to escape by tree, would you come back, finish your ice cream, and then leave?

[leaberator]

[ ... ]

Yeah, probably.

[ priorities. ]

We'd have to come back to get everyone else anyway, right?

[ SURE MAKE IT SOUND REASONABLE ]

[compendiem]

[ It does sound reasonable, and it makes Minato smile slightly to hear it put like that. ]

You're right. If we can make it out, we'll come back and let everybody know. Maybe pack what we can and have ice cream for the journey.

[leaberator]

Now you're talking my language. Ice-cream and escape both? We're gonna be livin' the dream.

[ this is not going to work just by climbing a tree, but it's whatever, they're gonna try and do it anyway ]
