The transition from unconsciousness to the waking world is practically seamless. Though you're certain this wasn't where you meant to end up, for a few brief moments it's hard to grasp the situation and take in your surroundings.

A soft twilight lights your way, casting a glow over the sprawling village that fans out around you. Just outside of the large meeting hall you'll find yourself awakening among several others who have found themselves in this place. There's a sense of peace that looms over the area, the only sounds being the cheerful chirp of a stray bird or two and the babbling brook that runs through the village itself.

Stand up, dust yourself off and set out. There are plenty of places to explore and should you venture far enough you'll even find several little houses throughout the village. It may take some time, but as you check out each house you'll soon come across something that belongs to you...along with something that doesn't. It seems that this new residence is yours to share. As for the village itself, the other buildings appear open and well-stocked, providing you with a variety of amenities to utilize. The paths leading out of the village, however, are guarded by four ornate wooden gates. No matter how hard you try, they will not let you past. It seems that the time isn't right yet.

Speaking of, the only way to truly track the passage of time is by charting the movements of the sun but that can prove to be quite difficult as well. As the sun dips below the horizon and the night sky fills with stars, the bell at the shrine rings out to signal the end of your first day. No one else has arrived. It's only you and these strangers for now.

It seems as though you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your fellow companions. Make yourself comfortable; when the time is right, answers will appear.



Welcome to the soft intro of Subdivided! This is your intro mingle and the current conditions will last through the weekend until Monday, June 3rd at which point the weekly log will go up. Your characters will not know anything about the partner system, how powers work or any plot-relevant information until Monday. However, characters are free to discover their power through trial and error and will have access to their item from home immediately.

Please note that an additional top-level to introduce NPCs and Game Mechanics will go up on Sunday, 4 PM EST.

Yes, exactly. I eat them raw so I can drink their blood at the same time. They're an excellent substitute for what I used to consume.

Yes. I need it to survive.

Don't worry, I only eat sardines and sweets these days.

[Because all demons eat sweets like hard candy and eclairs.]

Kind of a weird combination, but I guess I can't knock it 'til I try it. So you're a vampire?

[ there are some in halloween town so i guess he knows what those are ]

Sugar is very effective for healing.

I'm a demon vampire.

[leaberator]

Is that so? Now I've got something to tell everyone when they harp on me eating too much ice cream. But... vampire and demon both?

[ is that allowed??? ]

Can't say I've heard that one before.

It works for demons, I can't say the same for humans or other creatures.

[He closes his eyes before nodding. Of course it's allowed??]

Anyone from the Netherworld is a demon, and there are various types of demons. Reapers, werewolves, vampires, gargoyles and others.

Hey, what other people don't know won't hurt 'em.

[ Netherworld ... sounds like Halloween Town, but he decides to not say that out loud. ]

Sounds like quite the party. And you guys all get along with each other?

My closest comrade is a werewolf.

[That statement is accompanied with a very small smile.]

Closest comrade, huh? Is that what you call your friends?

[omegathree]

My comrades? If we're working together for a common goal it makes more sense to call them comrades.

[The answer is probably yes, but he's had 400 years of using the word "comrade"]

[leaberator]

Hey, you do you. I'm just sayin', that describes friends pretty well too.

[ "comrade" is somehow. the funniest thing to him right now? ]

Perhaps they describe the same experience, but I've become quite fond of comrade.

[leaberator]

Fair enough. I bet your comrades agree with you on it.

[ otherwise they'd have called him out already ]

Some of them don't even use the word.

[But hey they're still willing to work with him. That's pretty good for his weird and ragtag group of people who wanted to overthrow the government.]

But they've stood by me. There's nothing else I can ask for.

I know that feeling.

[ axel stop thinking about your children for TWO SECONDS ]

The Netherworld sounds alright. Better than this place, anyway.

[ because we've been kidnapped ]

You have... friends you'd like to get back to?

[Val has three idiot children who are all doing... something.]

My comrades are there, so I would prefer to be there rather than here.

I trust they'll be able to function just fine until I get back to them.

[leaberator]

Yeah.

[ some of them might be here, but. he has like, seven, so. ]

They can take care of themselves just fine for the most part, but it'll be nice when we can all see each other again.

[ there's something wistful there ]

Were you unable to see them all before you came here?

[Axel that's too many kids. Put some children back?]

[ adopts MORE children ]

Yeah. Some of them are... away, for a little while, but they'll be back.

[ he sounds like he's trying to convince himself a bit ]

Where is... this "away"?

[He has... a few worries here, but also this isn't his kid to look after. Right?

Well he can say that.]

Not sure. One of 'em left to find that out.

[ it's very dramatic ]

How many of them do you have?

[Because despite being separated, he's not going to use past tense.]

[ he blinks ]

... Two, I guess.
