Week Seven

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find a large, swirling mass grey in color looming near the sakura tree. This swirl cannot be approached just yet, but seems to be locked and waiting for something more.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. Though they’re together, it’s Sol who speaks up first this time.

"Morning. As usual, you guys were a big help in purging the darkness that lingered in the gateway from last week. We'll take it from here." There's a pause. "...we've got a new one for you, but there's something really weird about it. It's even larger than the last, so be careful when you're out there."

When Sol finishes, Lune picks up where they left off.

"Would it be odd to say that I believe you are all doing well? Your growth has been admirable.... Have heart as you continue to move forward."

The moment participants leave the hall, they will find that the gateway has changed from grey to white, the opening widening enough for multiple people to step through. The Signs will soon take their leave, and all will remain peaceful once more.

In addition, as the week goes on, everyone will find that somewhere on their person, a small word is printed displaying their most prominent trait. Though they may not agree, or even realize it, this is a trait that most strongly defines them and over the week this trait will slowly become amplified.

— I’m almost afraid to ask what you did.

[ Ah. Romance. ]

I sacrificed an entire bonbon for you. The ultimate act of romance. [A grin...and then his expression softens.] Hey.

[stillstands]

[ She laughs. ]

Guess it’s a good thing we agreed on three then, isn’t it?

[ Mmmm. If she tries to hug him it’s not going to work, which is.... crap, actually. Still, she can do something like it, can’t she? She leans forward, almost like she’s going to rest her forehead against his shoulder, but stops just short of actually touching him and awkwardly glitching. ]

Hi.

[twinsightful]

[He hates this? Let him hug his girlfriend!! But instead, he's stepping closer and sort of mimes patting her on the head because he's not risking the glitch either.]

I guess it can be a good thing. [But he's still pleased.] It brought you back to me, didn't it? Imagine if I only had two. [He would have thrown one into the void anyway, and they both know it. Let him make a joke out of it though.]

[stillstands]

[ Denied by glitching side effects. Still, the motions and the actions are something along the lines of what she actually wants. And is far more than she expected to get again, so... it’s not a bad thing. Not completely. ]

I’m sure you’d have thought of something anyway. [ She shifts a little, so she can look at him. ] I’m kinda known for liking books, after all.

[ The fact he would’ve anyway, unspoken as it is, means a lot. ]

[twinsightful]

So I've noticed. [He shakes his head.] But I'm not risking angering you for throwing something as precious as a book into a swirling black abyss, so the bonbon was much safer. They have books on the other side, don't they? [Does he need to send some?]

[stillstands]

[ She pulls a face. ]

I'm not sure what I can and can't say about over there without glitching. But I'm fine, really. Don't fling too many things randomly into the void.

[twinsightful]

The glitching certainly puts a damper on things, but I don't have to throw things randomly anymore when I already got what I wanted. [Praise him, he's doing great with this honesty thing.] Just tell me this surprised you as much as it surprised me.

[stillstands]

[ Smooth, Kaoru. ]

I wasn’t expecting to be back here again, no. Nor for you to be waiting right where I showed up. [ She is happy. Very happy. ] Even if it’s only for a little bit, it’s more than I thought I’d get.

[twinsightful]

Now that is a mischaracterization of myself. Why wouldn't I be waiting for you to come back?

[stillstands]

If we’re all back, there are other people to see too. That, and I didn’t really know where I’d show up, or if there were multiple areas we could show up...

[ Still... ]

But I’m glad you were.

[twinsightful]

Those other people can wait, and I would have tracked you down no matter where you turned up. You are my priority for the day.

[stillstands]

[ Oh. Wow, Kaoru... smooth. ]

Ah... [ What do you say to that.

... Still. It's not like she's not happy about it? ]

Then... I'm glad. And probably should've expected you when I went through the void. [ Honestly though, he has other people he knows who died. she'd kinda expected he'd want to see them as well. ]

[twinsightful]

[He just shakes his head.] You really should have. But you have time to learn. [It's hard to say if he's joking or not but it's fine. He can't touch her or hold her hand, but he does move back a bit to gesture for her to follow.]

We may as well make the most of our time, shouldn't we?

[stillstands]

[ She'd like that. If it's the truth, who knows at this point. ]

Alright. Where are we going?

[ It's not like she has any idea of what's in this place, after all. ]

[twinsightful]

Supposedly there's a rescue mission going on. Everyone's getting reacquainted and saving eggs. Are we?

[stillstands]

... Chicken eggs, or...?

[ That's delightfully vague. But sure, time to save some eggs. ]

[twinsightful]

Baby monster eggs, or something. Not chickens, I know that for sure, but they're from a nursery village.

[stillstands]

[ Baby monster eggs. ]

... Of course they are.

Where do they find these places, seriously? [ Says the girl from a zombie apocalypse to her rich shoujo boyfriend. ]

[twinsightful]

I wish I knew. [There's a shrug!] They just open up as they feel like it and we get dragged into whatever needs to be fixed. You'd think they'd at least consider if they were appropriate or not.

[stillstands]

Maybe it's necessity rather than choice. All the places have been hit by the corruption at some point, right?

[twinsightful]

Supposedly. But it makes you wonder if these are the only places that have been hit, or if others have, too, and they're just choosing to send us to these ones. That's what I'm more concerned about.

[stillstands]

Thinking there are a bunch of worlds out there without anyone there to intervene and try and help it... that's not a nice thought.

[twinsightful]

Of course not. But what could we do about it? I've put thought into this, and I still don't have an answer.

[stillstands]

I couldn’t say either. We’re reliant on the gateways and it’s not like we have a say in where they end up. And we don’t even know what worlds there are out there could be in trouble.

I didn’t even know there were other worlds until I came here.
