Week Eight
9 in Competition

As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.

Approaching the hall, however, they will find three large, swirling masses grey in color looming near the sakura tree. These swirls cannot be approached just yet, but seem to be locked and waiting for something more. Later in the day, if those in the village approach the third mass they will find themselves in a version of their home world. This world is completely void of people, but seems to be just as they last remember it. No darkness will be found in this world as well.

As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. They don't speak immediately, but wait for all to settle.

[Hewwo. He actually looks a little happy at that idea, why.]

Think you'd be up for it? I haven't found another sparring partner yet.

[ he raises an eyebrow ]

I wouldn't suggest it if I wasn't.

[There's a nod toward the gateway.] There's an arena I've fought in before. It's better than where we had our last match.

And there's a dojo in mine.

[ ... ]

We could try both.

[doublebladed]

...dojo? [The fact that he's repeating the word and sounds curious about it is maybe a sign that the dojo should be first.] Pretty sure we have time for both. The training would be good for both of us anyway.

[Kara is a good opponent, and it means giving them something to do.]

A hall designed for sparring. It's similar to the armory, but a little more open.

Let's go there first then. The struggle lot's outside and just a big square anyway.

Alright. Whenever you're ready.

[ he actually seems a little excited, if you know what to look for ]

[Can't believe this is what they needed all along...but Roxas practically bounds away to head for the third portal, stopping in front of it and waiting for Kara to approach.]

I think you have to go first just so it shows us the right thing.

[unfriendliest]

[ boys are dumb. but anyway kara will follow along and then lead the way through the gateway to... a place that looks remarkably similar to where the first portal leads, but bigger, with only minute differences between them. it's cold, and quiet, eerily so for such a large place in the twilight of sunset, but kara only hesitates for a moment before leading roxas through the buildings and to the dojo.

just like the first portal, there are slash marks here and there in the wood, and wooden practice swords of all sizes, tantou to ootachi, spear, and naginata, stored on racks against the wall. kara ignores those, instead removing his sword from the scarf he's still wearing around his waist once he reaches the middle of the room, and turning to face roxas. ]

Are you ready?

[He doesn't speak the entire time that they walk through the portal because it's similar and he's taking everything in. He doesn't have enough frame of reference to really spot the differences, but he can at least understand that they're very similar places. He takes in the swords around them as well while following Kara and eventually stopping on the other side of the dojo.

Give him a moment to summon his two swords he's been using.]

I think so. [The building looks like it can take a beating at least.] Come on.

[ nice. kara draws his sword and lunges without any further warning, going for a jab straight to roxas's chest. ]

[doublebladed]

[Nice, just what he wants. It works because Kara lunges and Roxas blocks enough to try and throw him off, bouncing back before rushing forward again swinging both swords down for an overhead strike.]

[unfriendliest]

[ he does stumble just enough to give roxas the leverage for such an attack, but he recovers enough to get his sheath between the blades. and before he can pull back again, kara slashes at his side. ]

[doublebladed]

[He nails Roxas in the side because Roxas is still, somehow, terrible at defense when he stops caring about it but it doesn't deter him much. He brings down a sword to try and upend Kara's, dodgerolling out of the way and quickly getting to his feet to work on slashing him in the back.]

[ kara is already turning with the dodge roll, but the strike hits him in the shoulder despite that. to throw roxas off, he uses his sheath to bat the sword away so he can aim his next slash at roxas's arm. ]

[doublebladed]

[Bad!! This time he's not making the mistake of throwing his sword, but his arm's knocked to the side even as the other sword moves to try and steer Kara's sword off-course. He's bringing one of his swords back for an uppercut sort of strike just to put some distance between them, but it's hard when he's actually fighting another dualwielder.]
