week eight: mingle
Week Eight

9 in Competition
As the sun rises on Monday morning, all participants will find themselves awakening with a sense of purpose. Regardless of where they slept the night before, they’ll find themselves compelled to return to the main meeting hall first thing in the morning.
Approaching the hall, however, they will find three large, swirling masses grey in color looming near the sakura tree. These swirls cannot be approached just yet, but seem to be locked and waiting for something more. Later in the day, if those in the village approach the third mass they will find themselves in a version of their home world. This world is completely void of people, but seems to be just as they last remember it. No darkness will be found in this world as well.
As the last member of the village enters the hall, they will find Lune and Sol at the head of the room. They don't speak immediately, but wait for all to settle.

Welcome to your week eight mingle! We have now hit endgame week.
In addition, ensure that all of your week seven private conversations were reported on the page. If you'll be taking anything from locations, please report that as well.

FINAL DAY - 4.

Weakly:]
...Hey.
no subject
... Hey. That time, huh? [ he looks up at the sky, quiet. ] You can still back out if you want.
no subject
...No. It’s like I told you the last time we talked, remember?
no subject
Yeah. I know. Just... gotta make sure an' all. [ he's quiet, for a little. ] My part's done.
no subject
...I'm sorry.
[There's a crack in her voice, even if it doesn't spread far just yet.]
no subject
[ he leans on her a little. the breath he takes is shuddering, but he only continues to look at the sunset in the distance. ]
no subject
[And she shifts so she can hug him, one arm pulling him closer as her hand rests on the nape of his neck, guiding his head to her shoulder. With her other hand, she pulls something out of her pocket, setting it down in the small space between them for the time being.]
Everything's going to be okay.
[If she says it out loud, maybe she'll believe it.]
no subject
He'd waited in between worlds for one last hurrah once. And even though he'd spent so long fighting... he'd been kind of glad it was over. This feels similar. Like that time, he's leaving it up to someone else to fix things.
...Isn't he always? ]
Yeah. Yeah, it will be.
[ there's a conviction there that almost surprises himself, but no matter how empty or useless he's felt, he has to believe they were making the right call. And he does. ]
Things will work out. Trust me.
no subject
[Trust him, that is. All the same... He might not be able to see it from their position, but he'll certainly be able to hear the way her voice thickens as she speaks next as she tries to stop any tears from leaking through.]
Close your eyes for me?
no subject
He closes his eyes, loosening the hold he has on her hand a little in case--
she needs it. ]
Mmhmm. [ He really had been willing to do it himself. But... ] Hey. I'm glad you're with me.
no subject
[The words come out slightly choked, like there's a great effort to put them forward. There are other things she wants to say to him, but - if she didn't believe she would have the chance to say them all later, she wouldn't be able to do this.
Now that her hand is free, it comes up to rest on the side of his neck for a moment. Though it's meant as a gesture of comfort... She's searching for the vein, too.]
You wanna know something?
no subject
his eyes stay closed as she touches his neck. they'll stay closed unless she tells him to open them. it's on her, now. he's not about to rush her. ]
What?
no subject
The next second, she reaches down to take hold of the first of two items she set down between them. It isn't long before he'll feel the pinch of the syringe moving into his neck.]
no subject
... Me too.
[ it doesn't take long for him to be unconscious. like a sleep spell, almost. his last coherent thought is that if he could've... he wishes he could've done anything at all to spare them this.
all of them. ]

The blade slides into his throat. She makes sure that it sinks deep enough and that she hits something vital enough before she pulls it again, but she drops the knife almost immediately afterwards. She knew what it would be like on some level, maybe, but she didn't fully understand how the blood would feel so warm, or the way would look as it spreads out around him and onto her. She looks down at her hands, and—
Well. There's barely anyone left, so there's certainly nobody in this area to hear besides her. That might be the only reason she lets herself scream, before that noise breaks into a series of sobs.
It's a while before she leaves his side.]
no subject
It's unfortunate. If he heard how she felt about it, her cries right now... he'd have pushed harder to have her nowhere near it.
Lea is dead. ]
