As the sun rises on Saturday morning, all will be quiet and still in the village. Not a single soul stirs as the sun and the moon linger in the sky, visible should anyone look.

A shimmer of stars spark through the air as a swirl of darkness lifts from the village. Everything has returned to as it once was, all 16 houses in-tact and all buildings precisely as they were before. Beams of light follow, soaring through the air and delivering every single participant back to this plane of existence.

As participants gather their wits and take in their surroundings, they'll find that a celebratory banquet has been prepared for them not unlike the one that originally greeted them. Decorations hang from the rafters and windows as lively music plays and can be heard in every part of the village. Some may even be able to trace the source to a gathering of musical instruments, and even...a turntable? Strange. All manner of fruits and vegetables appear to be perfect for harvest, and a variety of freshly cooked dishes from across many worlds can be found on display at the tables in the center. If you don't see your favorite dish? All of the ingredients can be found, along with amenities to make it yourself.

Surrounding the center of the village, several gateways open one by one, a soft gold glow emitting from them. No dangers linger in these parts, but adventure awaits those who wish to find it. Likewise, silver gateways open alongside these and serve as portals that allow participants to return to their homeworlds whenever they're ready.

Your Oracle Bells are in working condition, all messages saved from your time here and featuring a new network feature. Even as you leave this world, you're only 140 characters away from the friends you've come to cherish. Look around at those who join you today. Look hard enough, and you may even find some familiar faces you haven't seen for a very, very long time.

Though your time in this village draws to a close, the universe has settled and found a path to follow. You will always have a place here should you wish to return, and even when you depart for your next destination, your strength and power will follow you.

Happy endgame, friends! Thank you guys for a fun nine weeks! Here's a breakdown of what's happening in this post.

-All participants have been revived.
-All locations from the game have been opened, including the locations of the CYOAs.
-All characters' homeworlds can be visited.
-Castmates will be able to come through these world portals and play with the game's cast! So feel free to tag each other, etc.

-All elemental powers will remain with characters when they leave! This includes their special skills.
-And yes, all injuries are healed and all characters will remember their time here.

[ He rarely ever says either, but it's probably something he should start doing, now that he has people to say it to. ]

But yeah, a month... I have to train up my team, if they'll still have me as the leader. Buy equipment and weapons, medicine, dog food... I've been neglecting lots of stuff.

I wonder... I wouldn't think so, though. What if I stayed here for ten years, then went back? There's no way I could just slip back into the current time again and be able to pass as me.

[ He's barely unrecognizable as the him from two months ago, from somebody laid-back and uncaring to somebody... laid-back and just a smidge more caring. ]

[ Hm, yeah. Honestly, even though he'd taken two months off already, he wouldn't have minded another two or three... years... to get his act together. There's just so much to catch up on, from training to social linking to raising up his own stats. There's a cat he needs to feed, too.

But he shrugs. ]

Yeah, I'm done running away. I think I'm ready for it, now. My contract was one year to live, after all. Only got nine months in, so I'm still owed three.

[ And he'd spent more than two over here, so one month to prepare... Yep, that aligns right with the predicted death date. ]

[ dryly: ] I'd see about renegotiating that contract if you can. You got a terrible deal.

[ but he gets it, about not trying to want more just in case it comes back to bite you. after a point unrealistic expectations or hopes just hurt. ]

I wonder if it isn't too late to negotiate. I signed it thinking I had the better end of the deal.

What kind of situation were you in where you were both cognizant enough to both be able to agree to a contract at all, and also think that something like that favored you.

I wasn't allowed to go upstairs to sleep until I signed my name. It sounded fair, at the time.

...I guess I could've slept on the ground. But beds are preferable, and giving away my name wasn't a big deal.

... did they hand you a blank contract, or did you just not read it? Because if the offer was only that you be allowed to go to your bedroom, I'm not sure how the year to live part factors in here.

If we all survive this then I'm giving you a crash course on how not to handle shady contracts. Who knows when you might end up signing your body away for human experimentation, or something like that.

If science can progress with the donation of my body, isn't that a good thing?

At least try to pick and choose the kinds of shady science you'd be advancing. There's a world of difference between a back alley doctor short on funding trying to develop some kind of revolutionary procedure, and some egomaniac scientist thinking his idea of draining life force from humans is going to be the thing that ends the energy crisis once and for all.

[ as an exaggerated sort of example, anyway. he's not even going to try to bother to point minato away from shady things altogether, given his demonstrated tastes ]

[ There's... lots of differences, yeah, but Minato has trouble figuring out which Julius means is shadier than the other. ]

Lack of money halting the advancement of medicine sucks... That sort of thing is worth donating to. But so is ending the energy crisis... The polar bears will be in trouble unless we help with that.
