On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

I was reading a book by Stephen King before I came here. I... don't know if I can recommend that exact one, but I've heard good things about his other books.

[ If the blame isn't shared equally, the only other way to make it fair is to shoulder the faults of the universe on his own, and he isn't sure he has the strength for that. Guilt is what he felt every time somebody close to him died, and it was his fault, because inaction is still an action. ]

...What... do you think the best thing to do in this case is? Between you and Sol... Or is this the "universe" again?

Ah, the hunter. I see. [He watches Minato for a long moment or two.] You should be careful. Someone might decide to eat you.

Sleepy?

I hope so. Or at least edible.

Right. We still don't know what's going to happen here. I hope I don't have to use this to escape anything.

[ he scowls at them, internally debating whether this is worth pursuing further

and apparently decides it isn't, because after a short burst of fire, he turns to sheath his sword and stomp out of the hall. he's going to try to find something, anything, that he can do about this elsewhere. ]

[ Minato shakes his head, but that's for the comment, rather than the question. ]

Vally says people shouldn't eat each other. [ Or, more specifically, Minato shouldn't go around eating people, or himself. But it's universal advice.

He opens his eyes just to rub at the corner of it with the heel of his palm, and shrugs. ]

Kinda sleepy. [ falling asleep on his feet, tbh ] But I like talking to you, so I'll stay awake.

[there's a brief laugh at that, though it is distinctly devoid of any sense of joy]

It is certainly not the work of myself or the young one... There were a great number of difficulties for us to even arrive in this darkness.

In this case... First, I would advise each of you to rest and to regain your bearings. Even if there is an understanding that one day all things break... one rarely anticipates it to be so soon.

Second, come tomorrow with fresh minds. Answers will need to be unearthed to determine what happened.

... Steel your hearts, but do not allow them to grow cold. Even now, I believe kindness is the greatest strength in times like this.

The vampire doesn't have much of a leg to stand on. He won't even drink human blood.

[If it's a joke, it's hard to tell. It sounds amused maybe because he's just talking to Minato.]

I don't know if you have a choice. [Slowly and fluidly, he squats down and lifts an arm out, bent at the elbow.] Come. I know just the place for sleepy cats.

[ It's very rare that somebody is in agreement with Minato that the best way to deal is to just go to bed and sleep, but he can tell Lune means for them to rest, not use it as a means of escape. Minato's never had trouble falling asleep, but rest can still be hard. ]

Tomorrow, huh...? I wonder if people would even leave their houses again, after this...

[ He looks around for Kazuaki in particular, who he suspects wouldn't even be here if it weren't for that compulsion that'd pulled everybody into the hall. ]

[ Why doesn't Vally drink human blood? No idea, and though he makes the attempt to remember this question for later, it doesn't quite stick. Instead, he gives Hisoka's arm a stare, and then also lowers himself onto the ground and drapes himself over Hisoka's arm, this is the place he's talking about, clearly, right here. ]

You're talking about two different things though, aren't you? Related, to an extent, but... If I understand you, then you aren't allowed to present any information specific to this particular incident that may sway us one way or the other, correct?

But you also said you would be doing your own investigation into the corruption. If it has the potential to be a recurring threat or concern, then that information isn't strictly specific to this case, is it? There'd be no point in you investigating on your own if in the end, you wouldn't be able to tell us any of your findings anyway-- especially when you're meant to be our guides.

[ whatever. that actually means. enforcer? arbitrator? too early to say... ]

Or is it that you simply cannot present it publicly, without having had something be paid for it first?

For the first, you are correct.

For the second... in part, I believe you are underestimating the amount of investment that the young one and I possess in this matter. For the weeks that we dwelled here before all of you, we were still aiming to find answers. Your arrival has not changed our original intent to discover more, only made it more pressing.

At this time... the limitations on our speech are new, perhaps because anything we had wanted to say before today was permissible.

[but things sure do change when the core of the universe is causing a bit of a mess]

Do you think those here are the type to live in fear? Some, perhaps, would understandably wish to find shelter...

Though perhaps these are the times in which the adept may lend their hand to the less skilled as well.

[ Given the choice, most people place the safety and wellbeing of themselves and their loved one above all else. It isn't exactly fear, but... what's normal and expected, nothing to be thought any less about if one were to choose to stay in bed for the rest of the day.

Minato manages a little smile. ]

We're all adept in our own ways, and we'll help each other. You too, if you ever need somebody to listen, or talk to. We'll be fine. [ a hope, more than a belief, but they're about the same thing ]

Mm, certainly we will. [there is a gaze over at the coffin that is still too plainly in view] .... all will be well, if only in time.

Lune and I are here to help you, but solving it is going to be up to you. [A little shrug.] Up for the task?

[ ...haha. The chiding just makes Minato smile, because this is what he's used to, his team and his friends always trying to get him to be better, encouraging in their own way. ]

I'll make an effort to make an effort.

[ is all Minato promises ]

Yeah. [Their head is bowed just a bit. They're angry at this outcome, but it's saddening, too.] I'm sorry. Did you get to know him...?
