week zero: mingle
Week Zero

On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.
The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.
When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.
Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.
In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.
Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?
Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Welcome to your tutorial week mingle log! Please see all the links within the log to check out the new updates. In addition, your status page has been updated. In case you missed it, please report all item theft to this top-level where all comments are screened. Private conversations are also open and should be reported under the Week 0 top-level.
A mini-event will also be posted on Wednesday, June 5th, so please keep an eye out for that!

[ There is a gremlin making a mess of the kitchen, digging through cabinets and drawers like it’s going to solve all her problems. Apologies if you trip over anything on the way in. ]
But why isn’t there any ramen!!
[ someone please feed this small child before she
makes a bigger messwilts away on the floor ]Library
[ she's just tucked away into a nook in the non-fic section, surrounded by a pile of books. Titles such as Gardening 101 and Caring For Your Animals can be seen ]
How do they know how to do all of this without google?? Games always make this look so easy.
Air
[ Futaba’s probably more close to the edge than one should be but she looks completely at ease, staring out into the village and beyond ]
It's so pretty.........
Wildcard
[ You can probably find her poking around the village wearing this. ]
Library
Humans didn't always have google.

But it sure makes things easier. I could have been done by now!
[ Said book gets tossed aside for another. "When duct tape isn't Enough." ...Huh. ]

[the voice may be hard to trace the source of for a moment because........... it's a 1-foot tall bird, half-obscured by the piles of books]

[ If honestly feels like she's learned more useless knowledge in the past few hours than she has on a wiki random binge ]
Why can't life be like that?
[ With her nose in three books, she hasn't actually... noticed.... yet........ ]

[ Maybe if she glares at the books hard enough the answers will fall out. That's how it works, right? IT'S WEIRD TO DO THIS 100% THE OLD FASHION WAY. ]

Are you an old man????

though what futaba'll hear isn't his own voice, but that coming from his tablet, after he writes his dialogue down:]
Are you all right?

I'm hungryyyyyy
[ The other nice thing about being in the cabinets is the echo is great. She does pop out to glance at who's joined her and grins mischeviously ]
Any ideas?

An internet search engine?? The current owners of our generation and has their fingers in every pie?

I have no idea what ramen is, but it wouldn't hurt you to be more courteous about this shared space.

[ Half the items were knocked down just by her being on the counter like a cat. She just doesn't have the stamina to go up and down like all these tall people. ]
I thought I'd try making something. [ or just coffee ]

Air
...somehow it is. It didn't look like anything too great from inside, but from here it looks better.
[Certainly better than literally all the two or three human villages she had ever seen before]

And quiet too. It's so weird.
[ said the city girl ]
Waaay nicer than being up close though.

kitchen
[Says Emma, who's definitely thinking of the cheap packaged kind that college students eat.]

[ Says Futaba, clearly thinking of the delicious proper ramen that doesn't taste like liquid msg ]

Maybe the books are outdated. [No.]

[ calling out from a ways behind... like, a decently long way, is a small, androgynous person with red crystal hair flanked by a few silvery liquid blobs floating in the air around them. Normal. ]
You're going to fall off, stupid.
