On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[ Or a ski lift. Or something that doesn't involve being upright. ]

If there's not something good up there, I'll be mad.

[ He's about ready to just cut his loses and roll down the slope, but he does want to see if there's anything good up there, if only out of stubbornness. ]

Hm... While you were walking up, did you see anybody up ahead? If somebody's coming down, we could just ask them.

[ And hang out here while we're at it. ]

...If there's nothing good up there, I do have something else for you, though.

I haven't seen anyone. They're probably all too smart to waste their time with this.

[ ... but she does perk up a bit at that, and leans a little in his direction curiously. something for her?? ]

[ ...Minato smiles a little, seeing her interest pique, and begrudgingly sits himself up. ]

Too bad... Looks like I'll have to keep going, then. Would you rather stay here, and I'll let you know what I find?

[ She's not getting her gift until they confirm there is nothing good up at the peak. ]

... Quitting half way is annoying.

[ that said, as she heaves herself back to her feet, she looks like continuing the climb is also deeply annoying. ]

[ It is, huh? He agrees with that too, but doesn't really have any way to make the climb any more tolerable. Maybe all it takes is something to distract them from the climb?

After a few more minutes of struggling up the incline: ]

If I give you the gift now instead of later, would you be terribly upset?

[ ... and here we have: a girl with very little self control. ]

[ ...haha, alright

Minato slows to a stop, and faces her ]

Close your eyes for a second?

[ Akane stops too. she looks a little annoyed at having to do that... maybe she's just impatient? but at least she obeys. ]

[ Alright!!!!! Get ready for this.

Akane will feel something get placed on her head, and when she opens her eyes, she'll know exactly what it is, because the same thing sits on Minato's head:

Cat ear headbands.

Minato's is in black, Akane's is light orange and white. ]

...Remember our promise?

[ About wearing them together so they match. She'd better not take them off. ]

[ her eyebrow twitches when he touches her. but oh well. when she opens her eyes, she blinks, then takes in his headband.

and... pffft... ahahaha ]

P-promise, huh? It suits you...!

[ He should probably be more embarrassed than he is, but instead, Minato just smiles, and looks extremely proud of himself. ]

You really think so? I think you look cute with it too.

I mean it, I mean it. [ she's just brushing right past that cute comment completely, i guess. ]

Can you say "nya" for me?

[ He does her one better, raising a hand next to his face, maneki-neko style ]

Nya.

[ ahahahaha ]

One sec, one sec.

[ her phone's battery may be limited... but this is worth it. she digs her cell phone out of her hoodie pocket and turns it on. but... they have to wait a minute for it to boot up before she can even take the picture. ]

[ That's fine; instead of letting himself rest while the phone boots, Minato holds that pose for the entire minute or however long it takes for her to take the picture. He will, however, go "Nya" again when she's ready. ]

[ she snaps a photo, makes sure it's good, and immediately starts to turn her phone off. no desire for selfies, here! ]

Aren't you embarrassed?

[ The moment Akane lowers the camera, Minato's face relaxes back to its boring neutrality. It's too bad; he thinks it would've been nice for them to take a picture together, but the phone's already off. ]

Not really. I don't have any reason to be, do I?

How can you say that with a straight face? This stuff is embarrassing!

Is it?

[ With that same, ever straight face, Minato reaches up and touches the cat ears on the top of his head. ]

I like them, and you said they're cute too. So there's nothing to be embarrassed about.

Then keep them on. [ indefinitely??? ]

Okay.

[ He will keep them on indefinitely, don't test him. ]

Will you?

[ shakes... her head... ]
