On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[ God, I just imagined Cinnabar with just gums in his mouth and no teeth and didn't want that mental image ]

"Us gems"...? I guess... I was trying to figure out if these were diamonds? I can't tell the difference between rocks aside from hardness.

[globs]

they look at him like he's stupid. ]

They're obviously not diamonds. They're not bright enough. Why do you want diamonds, anyway?

[ because they're pretty, maybe? Diamond was always popular back home. And Bort was so strong, and Yellow Diamond was fast and wise... ]

[ Minato is stupid and he looks back. Are diamonds bright... ]

I was collecting them for somebody back home... They'd exchange me things for them- little dolls and stuff.

[globs]

That's weird.

[ JUDGING ]

Well, stop it. It's not like that person is here. And watching you do that creeps me out.

[compendiem]

[ It's not weird!! But Minato puts his nail away— by which I mean he sticks it back into his nailbat. ]

Alright. Sorry. [ He'll go back to doing it when Cinnabar isn't looking. ] Did you find anything cool in here?

[globs]

[ why is this guy walking around with a weapon, anyway... Cinnabar supposes things could turn south at any moment, still. They don't exactly trust those two weirdos from earlier. ]

Rocks. Dirt.

[ cool ]

What are you expecting? It's a cave.

[compendiem]

[ Because he can't leave it at home or his bird roommate will hate him ):

Among other more questionable reasons. ]

...Bats and spiders?

[ More animal friends tbh ]

There are spiders, too. I guess you're in luck.

[ they don't know what bats are... ]

[ Minato perks up at that, because spiders are the more interesting of the two anyways ]

How large, and do you know if they're poisonous?

[globs]

[ they raise an eyebrow at him, then hold their hands a few inches apart, palms facing each other. These are pretty big spiders, apparently. ]

So now you're worried about poison?

[compendiem]

[ Larger spiders are somehow less scary than small ones you can't see and might accidentally squash while walking around. It's for that same reason Cinnabar isn't that scary to him, even if he's probably indirectly poisoning him as they speak. ]

Not worried, exactly... but that sorta stuff is good to know, right? What you can get close to, what you can't.

[ In Cinnabar's case, their opinion doesn't matter, apparently. ]

[globs]

[ Cinnabar sighs in annoyance, folding their slim arms across their chest. ]

Yet you're still here. You really are stupid.

[ NO ONE LISTENS TO ME IN THIS HOUSE.mp3 ]

Yeah.

[ Minato also agrees, turning away from Cinnabar and making his way further into the cave. ]

But you're not stupid, so that must mean poisonous spiders can't hurt you?

[globs]

I'm a gem. There's no way an animal like that could hurt me. They're not even strong enough to break the skin of a low-hardness gem like me.

[ ... are they supposed to be following him?! They don't. Sorry, Minato. ]

[compendiem]

[ Is Cinnabar just standing there and letting Minato walk off by himself?? omg

Minato glances over to talk and catches the fact that he's been ditched, turning around again to stare at Cinnabar. ]

What—

[ "-is a gem?" but no, that's a stupid question

"-sort of gem are you?" but Minato knows nothing about gemstones, so this information wouldn't be helpful

He settles on: ]

...You have skin?

[globs]

[ THEY SURE ARE!!! except he stops so now they're still stuck in this conversation... woe. ]

Not like you. I mean the surface of my body.

[ they didn't think they'd have to clarify... but here they are. ]

[compendiem]

[ Cinnabar should just stop talking and maybe Minato will take the hint. ]

If you break the surface of your body... does the new surface become skin?

[ There's no layers except the outermost... Cinnabar has infinite skin. ]

[globs]

[ the secret is that they're actually lonely ]

What? I'd just replace the broken part. Stop making it weird.

[compendiem]

[ There are so many other/better people around here though ]

Sorry. I'm just interested. What do you replace skin with?

[ YEAH BUT MINATO IS THE ONE WHO IS HERE RIGHT NOW ]

I meant I'd reattach the part that broke off. Everyone does that.

[ except a certain traitorous freak of nature, but that's not THEM. ]

[ Hm. Yeah, that sounds reasonable. ]

Like when a person loses a tooth, and tries to stick it back in the socket. ...I think they need milk for that? Or something like that.

[globs]

[ staring at him in vague disgust... they don't know what he's talking about, but it sounds gross. ]

Like I know. [ ... ] Don't get any ideas about stealing parts of me.

[compendiem]

[ You can't just pitch an idea and then tell him it's off limits? ]

...okay. You too- try not to lose any parts people might steal.

[ DON'T STEAL THEIR BODY PARTS MINATO?? ]

That barely qualifies as advice. [ just saying, they're not planning on getting broken!! ] It's not like anyone can touch me, anyway. You just seem like the type who'd try anyway.
