week zero: mingle

Week Zero
32 in Competition

On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Welcome to your tutorial week mingle log! Please see all the links within the log to check out the new updates. In addition, your status page has been updated. In case you missed it, please report all item theft to this top-level where all comments are screened. Private conversations are also open and should be reported under the Week 0 top-level.

A mini-event will also be posted on Wednesday, June 5th, so please keep an eye out for that!

[ She shakes her head. ]

Anyone can be trapped. Even gods.

I guess it comes back to your question, after all. What makes a god different from an ordinary person?
forefall: (where the torches of evening kindle a da)

[ There's a brief pause. ]

We'd have to meet some gods to find out, don't we?
specialdog: (pic#13190524)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-05 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Then I'm hoping that happens. Otherwise we'll never get any answers.

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-05 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I hope the same. If you meet any, will you tell me?
specialdog: (pic#13190497)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-05 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. We should all be sharing any information we find out. We're all in the same boat, after all.

Agreed.

[ She looks at the offering box and the bell. She's actually not entirely sure what those are for, but she can make a guess. ]

Do you have gods you pray to?
forefall: (in the gaslight which colors it)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-05 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. I believe there is a god.
specialdog: (pic#13190475)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-05 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Do they listen to your prayers?
forefall: (a funereal urn awaiting a few tears)

[ i don't have a proper icon for this

Her smile doesn't reach her eyes. ]

I don't know. Do gods usually?
specialdog: (pic#13190523)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-05 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
[ :) ]

No. Why should a god care what ordinary people want?
forefall: (emptier and deeper than you are)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-05 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ .... ]

Gods usually are removed from their creations, but...that's kind of callous, isn't it?
specialdog: (pic#13190541)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-05 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't it callous for them to be removed from their creations?
forefall: (turning here and there)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-06 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
It depends if you're of the mindset of wanting them to interfere with your life or not. To have free will... isn't that something to think about?
specialdog: (pic#13190524)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-06 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
No free will is too boring. Too much free will, and it's annoying!
forefall: (wise men do not have beautiful ones)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-06 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
We have to find the right balance. If people think they can do whatever they want, they'll only make a mess of things, but if they think we'll give them everything, they'll become too entitled.
specialdog: (pic#13190463)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-06 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
I think so, too. It's hard to figure out that balance--but you can't fault a god for that.
forefall: (lovely cases without jewels)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-06 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Even gods have to try. That's a good lesson to learn.
specialdog: (pic#13190550)

[personal profile] specialdog 2019-06-07 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's not blasphemous to say a god's not perfect?
forefall: (that you are a semblance)

[personal profile] forefall 2019-06-07 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
If it is, we're both blasphemous, but I don't think we are.
specialdog: (pic#13190525)

Oh, good! What a relief.
