On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

around town

[someone gave him the idea and so, well... the little foot-tall bird is trotting around the town with a some papers and sticking them up places.]

[they look like this:]

[he's made about four that he's posting around in the local town area because, well, he's too scared to go further]

at the river

[watching the lanterns go by is sort of relaxing. kazuaki is especially susceptible to those little impulses of the world around him. the shrine is calming and the boats on the river seem to say they'll deliver a message so he wants to write a message.]

[he writes several drafts before settling on the one he likes and carefully copying it onto a different piece of paper and attaching it to the lantern.]

[once he does, he lets out a huge breath, like he just ran a marathon or tried to lift a giant weight. he sits down next to his pile of failed attempts and stares at the river for a while longer...]

[Kazuaki will be spending a lot of time holed up in his room because, well, bird neet! he did post a little sign on his house stating "Nanaki" so people can find him. feel free to hit me up for other threads or PCs!!]

[oh, the bird left his bed!

the voice—coming from shess's tablet—might be unfamiliar to kazuaki, but it should at least be attached to a familiar figure.]

What are you putting up there, Kazuaki?

[Huh? Text-to-speech? Was it Seedri? He turns and- oh- oh!]

You found your tablet! [good because he definitely hadn't found it and probably didn't look too hard. he was stressed, ok.]

I see, so that's how you use it... [let that relaxed vibe hang for a few seconds aaand]

O-Oh! Right- [the question!] U- Um! Posters! In case we need to defend this place!

That's helpful of you. Is that Kaoru?

[It's the bird. Toki tries to remember his name, or the one he used in his games anyway. Kozo? Kiza? Kazu? Kazu.]

[He waves to Kazuaki, and then notices all the discarded messages.]

Is it hard for you to write, or was the message too important and it had to be perfect!?

[ah!! he's been given... a nickname?! (no, you fool, he doesn't remember and you don't even know his)]

Um- ... both! Kind of. I feel like it would be a miracle if it made it to that birdie s-so you only get one shot at a miracle, right?

[Toki stares out at the lanterns for a minute.]

I don't think there's only one shot at a miracle. Even if that message doesn't get to where it needs to go this time, there will be another chance. Miracles come when you least expect them, but when you need them. Can I ask who you wrote it to?

[Toki doesn't have anything to send yet; he's not sure what he'd say, or who he'd choose. It's likely, he thinks, that world doesn't exist anymore and he'll never return to it.]

I wrote it to, um, a friend of mine. I don't think the river can take it back to where I'm from but... m- maybe he'll see it.

[Or, well, it was Symbolic but he did write the letter because he felt like it might work]

[The first thing he finds, actually, is one of the posters. He finds a poster while wandering around and it makes him stop and stare because despite the somewhat crude drawing he recognizes his own face. He's lifting an eyebrow, not sure how to feel about that, and it's with that in mind he decides to seek out one (1) bird.

While Kazuaki's hopping around, Kaoru will approach from behind, arms folded over his chest as he watches him hang up another poster.]

I never said I knew about monsters. [Hello there.]

Huh? Oh!

[he's a little nervous but well, like, he doesn't think he's in trouble.......... more than usual.........]

But you said- we should keep track of the people who can fight... and that Sol birdi- person- said there could be monsters!

Hm...well that's true. [A crouch down to get a better look at the poster.] Did you draw these yourself?

[little bird feet, coming to a door, then setting the stack down and putting a rock on top of them so they don't blow away]

[then he flaps his little wings to get up to human eye height and]

[and then up again to secure it with a tiny nail]

[ Akane approaches and comes up to stand beside him! Then drops down to crouch so she's a little closer to his level. ]

[instinctively he shuffles some of the discarded paper balls to the side]

Um, I just felt like- I know it's stupid but I felt like it might get to them.

[ Hmm. She doesn't have much to say to the concept, but. ]

What'd you write?

It was, um. A note to my friend. The one I told you about?

[you know, the one who murdered him]

Oh, the on who murdered you?

[ ...... akane. at least she sounds genuinely supportive...]

S- Sort of. I wanted to apologize... for being so bad that he had to do that. And, um, tell him that I would- would try harder. To not... want to die.

... You wanted to die?

I thought I did. I- I didn't, really, b-but I said it, so that's why...

I'm glad you feel differently now, though.
