On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

[ That's his name, and the fact that Val smiles at it means he accepts it and Minato takes it as permission to call him that forever. ]

You were gone for a while. Everything went alright down there?

[ Didn't have to, like... fight a shark off for these fish, did he? ]

[Mr. Valzy, Val, Vally, Mr. Weirdo, he'll take any single one of them. Nicknames are a form of camaraderie, after all.]

It went just fine, I had to walk along the ocean floor to get to it.

Walk along...? How deep is the ocean floor?

[ Isn't it several thousand kilometers............ but it's not like this is one of The Oceans, and maybe the floor doesn't drop as steeply here than it does on other beaches. ]

It's rather deep, humans like you shouldn't try something like that.

Hm... If I had a very long straw and concrete block shoes, I bet I could reach the bottom.

[ And never get up again. But that's neither here nor there; Minato turns his attention to the fish in the net, not moving to touch them or anything, and just sort of watches them flopping and dying. ]

...You know how to cook them, right?

[Well he's never stopped a child from doing anything stupid before so he just lets that threat(?) go.]

I don't need to cook them. I prefer to eat them fully raw.

Like... sashimi raw, or "I can survive getting stabbed in the throat" raw?

[ Gross is one thing, but there's also bones and scales, Val... ]

I think I might puncture something if I tried, so why don't you take these fish?

It seems odd to take them all when you were the one who made the net. [He says dripping ocean water on the pier.] If it's necessary for you to cook them, simply pan fry them for a few minutes on each side.

[This is the extent of his cooking knowledge and it's still better than most demons.]

[ Valvatorez was the one who dragged the fish up, so it'd make sense for him to take the bulk, if not all of them. ]

I can only eat one or two at a time, so I'll just take that many. Do you think the fish will cook properly if I drop it into the volcano?

[ Pan frying requires a pan. The volcano is right there. ]

If you insist, than I'll accept.

[There's a moment as he considers this. The volcano is not that close to the ocean region but...]

How are you going to get it out of the volcano?

[ ...........His first response was going to be the net, but the net isn't going to work. Change of plans. ]

What if I dangle it over the mouth of the volcano? The rising heat might be enough...? Maybe?

If it's enough to cook the sardine it'll be enough to cook your arms.

...Cooking is so difficult.

There is a kitchen in the village. You don't have to cook on a live volcano.

It might taste better though? Like grilling on certain types of wood. Some sort of... natural... smoky flavor.

[ Infuse the fish with the smell of burnt flesh ]

Do you want to learn how humans... taste?

...Do you know how humans taste?

[ Like... he doesn't want to know, but if the knowledge is right there ??? ]

I know how human blood tastes but I don't eat all of them.

[compendiem]

Ah- I know how human blood tastes too.

[ He's been punched in the mouth plenty of times to be able to taste it, after all, and he reports this with a certain sense of pride. ]

I think... meat is supposed to taste richer the richer one's diet is? So compared to a fish or a chicken, humans must be pretty tasty.

Oh? I didn't think humans enjoyed the taste of their own blood.

[He hums thoughtfully.]

From what I hear, you taste and smell like pork when you cook.

Blood's kinda weird tasting, but it's not terrible.

[ It sounds like something that's better drunk cold than warm, if he thinks about it. He shouldn't have to think about it, but he thinks about it anyways. ]

And pork's pretty tasty too.

Humans don't are meant to get their nutrients elsewhere.

Don't eat yourself in an effort to learn what humans taste like.

[Why did he have to say that? Why did I just type that?]

[ He had to say that because otherwise, Minato would very seriously consider losing a finger or two to roast over the volcano. But alright, alright, his own flesh is off limits. But any corpses he comes across is not. This is so cursed, Mira. ]

...Okay. I guess I can live without the knowledge. I'll have to go learn how to pan fry fish too, so...

[ He gets out a coffee mug that he's somehow able to carry with him at all times, maybe he loops his belt through the handle or something, but anyways he dips the mug into the ocean water to fill it all the way up, and then crouches to pick up two fish and stick them face first into the cup. ]
