On Monday morning, the sun rises on the sleepy village, and when the first ray of light touches the gates at each corner of the village, the previously tightly sealed doors open.

The barriers around the village fall, and leave it entirely open. Each cardinal direction will have a path exiting the village, taking the curious explorers who follow it on an adventure to new territories to be explored. They’ll find that each location that they arrive in appears to be associated with one of the elements. As the Signs had explained the day before, each of the participants in the game possesses an elemental assignment, whether they are aware of it or not.

When they approach the elemental areas, they’ll find themselves more in tune with their new powerset, as if the location invites them to take them out for a spin. The new areas appear to be perfect for training and learning how to use the new skills, or maybe if you’re curious you can discover which of those listed powers you’ve been granted.

Just try not to hurt yourself while you’re out there.

In addition, it seems now that more pieces of the core are being revealed, the river that runs through the village will begin to be dotted with small lanterns floating on the water. Some of them seem to be holding small notes. Try as you might to grab one, they’ll always just barely float out of reach.

Perhaps try sending one yourself and see what results you might get?

Occasionally in the village, you might hear the sound of drums and flutes - is that festival music? - though no matter how you search, you can’t find the source… yet.

Not if we sneak up on them somehow and use magic to make ourselves invisible. [That's because rich people have no sense. Although...] Wasn't there a power like that on that scroll?

I don't know. I didn't really read like the whole thing.

[He shrugs.]

It was so long! Oh my god! You can't be expected to read all that!

[Reading is hard.]

Then read it one piece at a time! If they exist, that means people are going to start using them and I don't want to find out the wrong way.

[Also reading is not hard, why does he keep meeting people like this.]

But by the time you get to the end, you've forgotten the beginning!

[He'd rather believe these people wouldn't use powers bestowed upon them by unknown entities against others in their same situation.]

Get someone to take notes. [Kaoru trusts no bitch? He's not getting thrown off-guard here.]

Will you take notes for me!? Like really short ones with absolutely only relevant information!

[...well. He has nothing better to do, so.]

Sure. Why not? [Shrug.] Find me a notebook and I'll do it.

We can find one later! It's not that important!

[Too much effort.]

[Oh my god. He just. Starts laughing a little.]

Guess it's not. So what do we do now? No fish kingdom, no overlords....the water seems pretty calm, too.

[The castle is pretty boring, despite being a castle.]

Hang out at the beach!? Maybe there's crabs to play with!

Crabs? [...can they eat them? No, stop thinking about that. He stands up and he nods, turning to lead both of them out of the castle.] We can see what's in those other tide pools and the ocean, too.

Okay!

[He follows Kaoru out of the castle and to the beach. And now he has the best idea ever.]

Let's make a sandcastle~!

We should make it taller than that castle to show 'em who's boss. [Toki absolutely has the best idea ever.]

Yes!

[There's not really anything to shape the sandcastle with, but for something so large; does it even matter? Something so large... that it will take forever to build. Toki looks at the wet sand, and a nearby shell. He imagines slaving away for hours on the beach making just a foundation for a castle and scooping up mud with the shell. No.]

This is actually a terrible idea when you really think it about it!

[You know. He's not wrong.]

Pretty much all of the ideas here are terrible. It's like we're running out of options and it's only been a few days.

[That's basically it.]

I think we need more information to make any progress here!

[More information will not help him at all.]

I believe you're right. Shall we split up and see what else we can find?

Okay! Meet back at the castle later?

[He's more likely to get distracted by something before he even starts looking for "information".]

Sure thing. [The problem is they're both going to get distracted but that's how it is!! He'll find Toki later. Eventually. Give it time.]

[Toki never makes it back to the castle. If Kaoru comes across him again, he'll be on the beach still. Only instead of making a sandcastle, he's lying on his stomach and dueling with a crab. The crab has a little stick in its big claw, and Toki has another one. The crab is winning somehow.]

[We can wrap this if you want Morgan but Toki's fun so. Kaoru's back eventually. He's walking along the beach and he spots Toki in the sand, very much not doing anything useful except...crab-dueling. Hm.

He has a notebook in his hands by now and he's approaching, crouching down to get a better look.]

Are you really going to let him get away with that?

[Toki takes his eye off the crab to look at Kaoru.]

I'm trying, but he's really good!

[While he's distracted, the crab moves its claw and the stick hits Toki's hand. He's immediately looking back at the crab with an indignant shout.]

Hey! I wasn't ready!

[There's a grin sneaking up over his face as he watches.] You can't take your eyes off of your opponent! Even if you aren't ready, he is. Strike him again!
